At 1:12 in the video, during the close up on Johns helmet, in the top right (your left) of his visor, a faint light pops up, if you can imagine from the Halo books, when Spartans comunicate to each other the use acknowlagement lights that blink on Master Chiefs HUD, these lights would most likely be in the corner, off to the side of his visor so as not to obscure his vision.
Now, if that is what I think it is, who, and more importantly how is he comunicating with another Spartan? Are we going to see the return of Kelly, Linda, Fred and Will in Halo 3? I can only hope.
Here is a picture of where to look- Acknowledgement

Did anyone else get the feeling that the activation of the "structure" was unintentional?

At 1:25 as Spartan-117 steps to the ledge overlooking the object, you can see 27 Covenant Cruisers in a hold position, around the crater, as 9 Banshees ESCORT a lone Phantom, toward the structure.

At 1:26 we can see 3 Cruisers in a hold position above the structure.

At 1:34 when the installation begins to open, the Banshees and the Phantom break formation, and turn away from structure in an evasive pattern.

At 1:39 you can see the Cruiser above Spartan-117 immediately fire up its engines and turn on an out-of-area vector.

And finally, at 1:45, the two remaining Cruisers above the structure fire their engines, again, on an out-of-area vector.

Now, my question to you is, why would the Covenant, who are hell-bent on begginning their Great Journey, flee from its Holy Light? Have you ever seen a spiraling vortex in the sky when Delta Halo was activated?
This really interests me because no theory I have ever seen explains this phenomena, which makes me wonder, what if what was activated, wasn't what everyone thinks it is (the Arc)? Maybe, in some horrible way... something worse.

Also, I'd have to guess it was Truth and his Brutes in the Phantom being escorted to the object, even the ships that are holding around the installation, most likely unfriendly Covenant. Just because they dont turn and fire at John doesnt mean they are friendly.
When the Covenant see something more important ahead of them, they rush into it, no need to fight a Human after the Great Journey begins, right? (if memory serves me correctly...) Think about how Tartarus borderline ignored The Arbiter, and forced Miranda to insert the index on Delta Halo.

-edit-

Something else interesting I feel the need to note, exactly what Cortana says.

At 0:34, something eerily similar to the copied Cortanas from First Strike, over and over you hear a sort of stuttered "I..." which leads to "I have defied Gods and Demons." If you listen close enough you can hear a slightly overlayed voice that sounds a lot like Gravemind.

At 0:52 we can again hear the stuttered "I..." which leads to, I think "I am your shield, I am your sword."

At 1:04 we hear her quite clearly say "I know you... your past... your future."

And finally, at 2:04 she says "This, is the way the world ends."

Any Bungie lore lovers will instantly think back to the days of the Cortana letters, which can be found here.

Can you post these news , if they already have than never mind. Oh and can you add that the light is a line. Very Difficult to see

A possible posibility, but for linda and fred to come back, they would have to find Fred in space and get him to saftey after reach fell.(not the pillar of autumn of course). And\or Linda would have to be saved from the pillar of Autumn before it blew up and shipped to a planet.
These dont seem like they would both happen ,but maybe the second squad of the spartans that were currently in training were not at reach. (which probably wouldn't happen because they thought reach was a very safe training ground (planet).

I dont know.....maybe

I will look at what U picked out of the trailer an come back

Kelly, Fred, Linda, Wilma, Barney, George Jetson, Foghorn Leghorn are NOT going to be in Halo 3. Why? The books are seperate from the game. They share the common Halo universe but the majority of Halo players don't know and don't care about the books. Bungie has said before they will not include the characters from the books because they would be confusing their core audience. Introducing another Spartan or Ackerson, or Halsey or Jimmy Jo Jo Sha Bo Bo would confuse people like me who don't give a -blam!- about the books. The Halo story is centered around the Chief, he is the baddest Spartan around, why introduce other Spartans that are inferior to him? Its just stupid. Also, you are looking WAAAAAAAY too into the trailer. Go outside please.

Can you provide a link to where this was said?

Dude, my theory explains the vortex in the sky. As you can see, its not interacting with the environment (nothings getting sucked into it, no wind so its not a storm, plus hurricanes don't occur in Africa...anyways), so I've hypothesised that it is a giant slipspace being created by the ARK. This slip space was created by the forerunners as a means of escaping this region of space before the Halos were remotely activated by the ARK.

This journey across space could of been mistaken by the forerunners as a "Great Journey" to heaven, since where the forerunners were going would be viewed as a safe heaven, free from flood and place to start over. Anyways, it would also explain why all the COV ships are waiting beneath... they're getting ready to catch a ride across space.

This theory also explains the sudden dissappearance of the forerunners. I also believe that the Halos only kill life, they don't destory inorganics, so it explains why all the forerunner relics are left, as well as all of the forerunner weapons/tech that the cov use.

Now, as you were saying, we see a phantom move towards the center of the structure, but then breaks off when the beam of light cuts through. I'm willing to bet Truth is in the phantom, and he didn't know that the beam of light was coming. I have no idea what the light is... could just be the structure depressuring, or perhaps its opening to form sort of intermediate passage into the slipspace, or maybe its sending a signal out to the Halos / across space to where ever the forerunners went.

Idk, give me your thoughts

I was thinking, with the whole covenant split, could those three lights be elites? I mean it's unlikely three other spartans are still alive, but the chief could have teamed up with the elites to try and stop Truth from destroying all life... Just a thought.
