Subject: Does anyone else notice a slight trend in member titles and maturity?

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Well I have a pretty good member title, and today I sent this to DeeJ:

"I AM IN SNIPING POSITION. EXIT BUNGIE WITH YOUR HANDS UP AND A COPY OF PARTICLE."

So I'd say yes, we are definitely more mature.

Oh look, Microsoft's office is right there, in front of Bungie studios.

It's not that uncommon though...there's like 7 Microsoft buildings in Bellevue.

If I am not posting, then I am reading what you might have posted.

Sort of... It is very slight, because of the frequent use of sarcasm...

They're pretty much everywhere between Bellevue and Redmond.

As an aspiring Computer Scientist I disagree :)

Did your title just suddenly change? I'm pretty sure you were a mythic or legendary a few moments ago.

Hahahaha...

Not.

I love how everyone feels that the Mythics are the most mature and wise and sort of guidance for the Community, when in fact most of them just don't give a -blam!- because they've been here so long and seen most of the cool stuff and love to dick around as much as I do. Except a few tryhard kiss-asses that try their best to look professional, but there's only one that I can think of.

For Carnage Apply Within

They think that they have pacified Ireland. They think that they have purchased half of us and intimidated the other half. They think that they have foreseen everything, think that they have provided against everything; but the fools, the fools, the fools! — they have left us our Fenian dead, and while Ireland holds these graves, Ireland unfree shall never be at peace

Haha I wish.

Nope, I never had Mythic or Legendary or Heroic. Maybe in the future someday, but definitely not now.

We should know better, because we are better.

Not really. But if you are less mature in a way that could get you banned, you obviously won't be staying that rank for long.

I know some pretty immature mythic and legendary members, not that it matters. You can be immature and still use proper grammer. No one likes someone who is serious all the time.

I'm not trying that hard. :-)

I say we remove the arbitrary titles so that this preconception is no longer an issue. Who's with me??

That's actually a good point, correct grammar does make things all the more serious. I try to retain the correct use of grammar while also trying to keep a mood relevant to the topic, like in the "FAQ on Bungie.net Member Titles / Prefixes / Bar Colors" thread; I try to use correct grammar, but speak on a less serious note. Oh, and smileys, I use those sometimes too.

Hehe, not you. All I'm saying is that I doubt if anyone took a peek into MM, they wouldn't see anything representing maturity or seriousness at all. As you get the gist of the site, you just get bored and start to fool around.

As for the titles idea, meh. I like them, to be honest. I just dislike the hierarchy that comes with them and the fact that we managed to develop a sort of elitist system is kind of dumb -- said elitism I try to avoid at all costs.

Personally, I wish we could maybe have something like Coup, except a bit less custom. Maybe choose your own title and title background color. There'd have to be avatar moderation team that would approve or deny title reqs, and the background for titlebars would obviously need to be chosen from a list of given backgrounds, but this would let us have cool-ass titles ad titlebars without a form of elitism. Although I manage there'd be a sort of clan thing that would happen, although that could be pretty cool.

Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time.

I know who you are.

You are Destiny.

Back in the day you could expect such wisdom from a Legendary or Mythic member, but now since the titles were changed (i.e., there is no longer a limit on the number of Mythics, Legendaries, etc.), those expectations can and should be dropped.

Same here but I rarely use smileys on the mains. I do use them a lot on private groups though.

I would say there is some sort of difference, perhaps from kids getting older, or from learning the ropes. But that it isn't worth expecting higher quality from "higher" titled members or lower quality from "lower" titled members.

I was never around during the days of Halo 2 or even Halo 3. Admittedly I was with Nintendo up until just before the release of Metroid Prime: Trilogy, which ironically was when I switched to Xbox 360 (Metroid Prime is my favourite Nintendo game series ever). I joined the forums soon after forum posting became a hobby for me.
