Well, for me having a higher title is for someone who have been longer here (obviously) but during those years, they've learned on how to speak correctly to the community, show some respect, and probably know how members, mods and employees treat each other.

Even if is an inside joke, such as "Blame Stosh" old members (titles) know when to post blaming him, but still there is respect. Unlike few new who would think blaming him, it's his "real" fault on why something is not working correctly.

But still, that doesn't mean new members will not post very successful threads.

I still consider myself a newbie in this community.

I will always consider myself a newbie to these forums, and I think that's because whenever I have a week or so of inactivity, I return to a LOT of news that I've missed and I then fail to understand what all the hype is about. So in short, every time I come back here it's a new experience.

Anybody figure a way to change your title yet? I haven't hardly posted since 2007 so i could get this dang "Fabled" word outta here and get a "Veteran" or "Elder" status. because they sound cooler.

"There's a very fine line between not listening, and not caring. I'd like to think that I walk that line every day."

For the most part, yeah, it's quite obvious.

"That's about all that can be said for plots, which anyway are just one thing after another, a what and a what and a what.

Now try how and why."

Being a well spoken ass doesn't make one any less of an ass.

I think it's less about higher title correlating to higher maturity and more about being able to present immaturity without being banned.

Well I have a pretty good member title, and today I sent this to DeeJ:

"I AM IN SNIPING POSITION. EXIT BUNGIE WITH YOUR HANDS UP AND A COPY OF PARTICLE."

So I'd say yes, we are definitely more mature.
Good luck with that, if you didn't already know, Bungie doesn't negotiate with terrorists.

As far as the op goes, like you said, it is always great to see a high level of maturity throughout all the ranging titles. However, I feel like there is a dual causation in the fact that their is a correlation between "higher" titles and mature users. People who express the traits that are more desired by the title system, which can be assumed to be under the ubrella of good behavior and a practical understanding of what is expected of them under the Forum Rules/ToU/CoC, are more likely to have the aforementioned "higher" titles.

OT: A while ago, I asked a very similar question of the community, with mixed results, which one might expect when conducting any form of survey with a broad target audience.

Maturity and Seniority do occasionally go hand in hand, but a higher title doesn't mean much. I find that with higher titles, the members you encounter tend to have a good idea of how to operate on B.net, have a life outside of the internet [How that works, I don't know :D ] and sometimes they can be helpful, or contribute useful or entertaining information to a discussion. [Sometimes].

The Risk Is Worth The Reward.
Cry Havoc And Let Slip The Dogs Of War.

No I don't think you can look at a title and say "so and so" is mature.

...which can't really be said about my Deviant Art Page however.

My lack of any advance in title is of all fault my own.

Although for the same reasons I have not advanced in title I believe some others have not as well. Not measurably immaturity, but small things like a new profile.

If I get Mythi-cool again, can I get a credit card because of how mature I'll be?

  • 07.05.2012 7:05 PM PDT

Why do people in ship mutinies always ask for "better treatment"? I'd ask for a pinball machine, because with all that rocking back and forth, you'd get a lot of free games.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

That's funny. The people doing the actual debating on this forum are the ones with funny names and default avatars I've noticed. Mythic members typically make "safe" noncontributing posts to keep their title.

Have you seen Skibur? He doesn't have his title anymore. But it's not just him. elmicker is known for arguing with people. Blues argue with people all the time, they're just more mature about it and don't need to turn every unassuming insignificant conversation, disagreement, argument, or discussion into a flamewar.

Please stop complaining about the 'death of a loved one' it's my job. They probably deserved it anyways. Here's a warning, if you keep making pentagrams out of the neighbors livestock I will personally come to your house and kill everyone you love. Now leave me alone, I got to get back to work.

I like to think I'm mature but that's not for me to decide.

I think titles have at least some influence on how certain members post.
