You'd be surprised.
I often have to field complaints about abnormal feminine odors in the ER. And part of a good female pelvic exam includes noting the odor during the exam. In fact, I've unfortunately done so many that I can typically guess the diagnosis off of the odor before I get any test back. I'd say I'm about 75% accurate.
As a general rule,
Rotten fish/fishy: Bacterial Vaginosis
Spoiled Milk: Yeast
Dead animal/rotten meat: Retained -blam!-
Bad BO: Poor hygiene or Trichomoniasis
Old festering abscess: GC and/or chlamydia
This post alone made entering this thread worth it. I'm still a little disturbed... but worth it.
