Subject: Big "Thank You" to Marty O'Donell

Evening Everyone.

Not sure if anyone else wants to /sign this, but after playing the games through for the 5000th time, I realized how much of a crucial element Marty's music was to creating these amazing games... this.. legacy. I think everyone would agree with me that one of the first things that come into mind when thinking about he franchise itself is the amazing theme tune.

The echelons of every segment of music is genius.. Each minute draws out a certain emotion to match the gameplay perfectly...

Thanks Marty, Honestly.

Bye.

Anyone who doubts the importance of music in media (Film and Games) should watch this video on the importance of music.

Without Marty's music, Halo wouldn't have be as evocative and immersive as it was. Halo has won numerous awards for it's music and when listening to the soundtracks you can see why.
The music of Halo is recognised among nearly all gamers. Who would have known back in 2001 that *4 simple notes could unite the world.

I've always been a huge fan of Marty's work. Actually I recall creating a playlist on Pandora and Spotify based on his work. I honestly can't wait to see what kind of creation he is cooking up for Bungie's next project.

I wonder if his music will have a different style in Destiny.

His style may change, but that won't make it any less awesome. :D

It will have to change to set the mood for the new universe. This is a new adventure and he plays a massive role in setting the tone.

I love Halo, I have played it since the beginning, even though I may not have had Xbox Live back then. Marathon is also a pretty good game. I have been here on Bungie.net longer but got a new account and I am looking forward to Bungie's next game. My old account got hacked.

Thank You Bungie! For the best games and Recon Armor. Also thanks for the early access to the Halo: Reach Beta!

Glory and fame, blood is our name!
Souls full of thunder, hearts of steel!
Killers of men, a warrior's friend!
Sworn to avenge our fallen brothers!
Sons of the gods, today we shall die.
Open Valhalla's door!
Let the battle begin, with swords in the wind! Hail Gods of War!

Here's to another 10 years of Musical Genius. Halo's soundtrack will never be the same without you.

Marty O'Donnell is, indeed, the Jimi Hendrix of orchestral music.

Hans Zimmer be damned.

The Quest for 52 is a group committed to helping players complete all of the weekly challenges in Halo: Reach. We are committed to providing a friendly environment and organized forum in which players can discuss strategies for completing the challenges, help others with the challenges, and above all have fun completing the challenges!

One of the first questions that came to mind when Bungie announced they would no longer be making Halo was, "What about the music?" Marty has done an amazing job over the years creating the theme to an icon. Thank you for that, and I'm looking forward to the future games with your great work.

My Halo 3 service record has several things that are incorrect. My KD is above 1.0 in both ranked and social, and I am a much higher rank. Also I have several perfections and my "player since" date is wrong because I have had Halo 3 since the launch date in 2007 (september 25 I think).

lol marty rocks. his music is amazing

I used to put on the Halo 3 soundtrack as background music when I was coding. It creates the perfect soothing atmosphere, and not overtly in your face and distracting. Having said that, my code used to come out really buggy, so obviously that was the music's fault.

Thanks Marty! Your music will always be a part of Bungie and Halo history!

Marty is one of my idols. <3 Marty. I'd kill for... say, a poster signed by him or a framed photo or something.

  • 07.06.2012 7:03 PM PDT

Indeed, some of my favorite music of all time was composed by Marty.
