The fact that you believe doing button combinations is cheating is one of the more retarded things I've read hear at the Bungie board. I must say that that's saying alot.
I took a 2 months break from Halo and then I picked it back up only to find that everyone I normally play with now has learned BXR, BRX, BXB and many other variations of them. At first I was pissed because I couldn't do these and I was almost always at a disadvantage. So I started practicing these and now I can do them just as well as anyone else and I'm playing alot better than I ever had. I'm sure in your own twisted mind this is cheating, which I can't even fathom on how you came to this horrible conclusion, but the key to playing Halo 2 on live is adapting to the new things people find. For awhile people really didn't understand crouch jumping which was a big thing for awhile, then the pp/br came along that caused an uproar. Before the major update, jump melees were a big thing. Now it's evolved to BXB/BXR and apparently it's causing an uproar also. In months this will become common place and a new easier way of killing someone will be discovered. Just think about it as fads in high school, or as modern technology making small inprovements on things and everyone updating to that.
And anyways, if you want to stand by the "pressing buttons" is cheating, just notice how under Bungie's defintions of cheating, there is nothing mentioning button combinations. If you're not good at this game because you refuse to learn these, then cry me a river, because you're your own worst enemy here. If you started to practice them right now, I doubt anyone would think less of you. You wouldn't get cheating feedback. In fact, I bet you'd get more compliments about how much better you are.
