I think I speak for all of the Halo series' true fans when I say, "Bungie, take your time!" We all know what happened with Halo 2. It's an excellent game, I'm not even going there... but what Bungie planned for it? I don't care about ATVs, I'm talking an enourmous campaign, several types of Warthogs, the LE DVD says it all. They cut out several maps etc.
Whether it was Microsoft's fault or Bungie's fault or the fans' fault, I don't care, I want Bungie to take the absolute longest amount of time they can. I wouldn't care if Halo 3 wasn't released until 2009, as long as it does it's job as the NextGen conclusion to a phenomal and legendary gaming series, rather than "Microsoft's NextGen main weapon."
Obviously, part of me wants to just say Halo 3, come out now! The other part wants me to not urge the game so Bungie can do what they do best - work without deadlines. I don't care if they slack off... they made the Halo series. They did it, not us, we shouldn't be giving them deadlines. I was pretty unimpressed when I saw the 2007 release. I was hoping at least 2008, it would give them enough time to test the multiplayer for things like superbounces... or a new wave of glitches... network bridgers, standbyers... modders even. If it were released a few years later than what the majority of us are expecting; we could have easily 20 multiplayer maps (with no doubt more to download), an enourmous graphical improvement from even the Halo 3 trailer that Bungie released, and more features.
The bottom line, is that I want Halo 3 or be the conclusion of a record-breaking, legendary videogame series, not Microsoft's NextGen moneymaker.
