Playing to win is for chumps. Playing for fun is the only sensible option.
This morning, around 5AM, my dad passed away from complications after surgery for an Aortic Dissection. I wasn't sure how to take this news, because we had an estranged relationship. So I started going about my daily business, and I realized I haven't been on bungie.net in a while, and I see a new post on the home page. It was Bungie Day.
I'm not sure why, but it brought back a lot of memories. Memories of playing Halo with my dad, because he was the only one who would. Playing Warthog Jousting on Silent Cartographer in Halo 1 for hours. Talking to him excitedly about Halo 2 and waiting for it to be released. Messing around with all the new things in Halo 3. Playing each game, one level per day, until we beat it, then going back and playing them again. We never got to play Reach together though...
I wanted to thank you, Bungie. Urk, Marty O'Donnell, Joseph Staten, EVERYBODY at Bungie. Everyone who works there now for the future and everyone who ever has worked there. I want to thank you for giving me those childhood memories with my Dad. I want to thank you for giving us something to bond over. Without you, I wouldn't have any good memories of him. So thank you, Bungie. Thank you so much.
Edit: Thank you for the nice responses so far guys. I appreciate it.
Edit 2: I love this community so much. Thank you all for the kind words.
