My take on matters such as this? I try to keep it as simple as possible.
For me, this is simply a matter of courtesy and manners. If I am visiting, I respect and honor the rules, guidelines and requests of my hosts. If they ask that I act a particular way, follow their rules, or restrict my behavior... I either comply or end my visit.
Based on that personal philosophy, if a member feels restricted, confined or that their style is cramped by the conditions of our hosts, they can have their membership dues refunded and consider themselves welcome and free to visit any other site on the world wide interwebs.
Or, they can create their own location, invite others and feel free to set any (or no) rules of their own.
I understand that we're a community of our own, but we are still guests on this site. We're welcomed guests, we're beloved guests, we're friends and family, but no matter how you cut it, it's not "our house".I don't think you answered the question. All I read was "You should always follow the rules or GTFO", the question is whether the rules should be edited to allow profanity on the forums.
If you ask someone to watch their language when they are in your house (and around your friends and family)... would you expect them to challenge you and say that they have a right to speak however the hell they want?Would I expect my guests to bicker about my rules when they aren't around me? Sure. Do I expect them to rebel? Not really, because they know I'll just remove them from the vicinity of my household for doing do.
