The original three games were great. I honestly didn't like Halo 3 that much though. It's campaign, it's multiplayer, it didn't have that zest like the other games did. I don't know, it just felt boring compared to the other games.
Halo 3 ODST was special in it's own way. It was the only expansion pack in the entire time of Halo, it added firefight, and it had some pretty epic moments in it too.
Halo Reach was pretty great. It's campaign, although linear, was pretty great. I had a lot of fun pushing my way through the amount of enemies you had to fight in each level. It felt like you were in a gritty combat scenario, not a winning one. Framerate loss might have been a part of that. That's what I liked about Reach. As for multiplayer, it brought some armor abilities into play, which is not that all different from drop abilities. With drop abilities, you picked up a bubble shield, you used a bubble shield that was invinsible. In halo Reach, you selected the bubble shield ability from the menu, and now you can use that whenever you want. It is not invinsible, but it does heal those inside. Sprint, honestly, it's just sprint. Evade is basically a sprint that doesn't get you as far, but makes your hit box smaller. Armor lock is usefull because you no longer have that trip mine drop ability. So when a vehical is coming at you, you can lock down your armor, and you won't die. With the title update, they nerfed it so much it's actually useless now. Armor lock also replaced the missing overshield perk that lays around the map. Invisibility replaces both the radar jammer in Halo 3, and the invisibility perk in every other Halo game. Lastly hologram, which you can use as a decoy to help you out when the enemy needs to waste his shots so you can come in and kill the guy who was stupid enough to waste his shot on a hologram.
And also, the game was balanced and polished enough for me.
Halo Anniversary, while dissapointed about not getting all the map packs for Halo Reach for free, I am glad to see that I at least got 7 maps of the 13 total DLC. I also enjoyed playing that campaign again, even though I play it once every month or two anyway.
