Seriously, I type in exact words from a thread that I posted in yesterday and the most recent thing it finds is from 2011.

This is why no-one uses it.

You can use Your last post's

I never use it or bother with it. I search manually.

I think he's saying that the search bar is generally useless when trying to find keyword information, among other things.

I know, I was just using that as an example

What if you have a thread where you remember the text but not the members who posted in it?

And why does it only seem to check post bodies and never thread titles?

Well that's very cumbersome and time consuming. What if I'm looking for a thread from months ago?

It would be a lot easier if the search bar was made less useless.

Did you type the exact phrase in quotation marks?

I just typed a single word that I definitely used.

I got a load of results, the most recent being from last year.

That's not a broad search at all.

If I have time to be on the internet than I have to search for stuff manually and no matter the time that it consumes.

Making arguments like that for an atrocious search bar is unconstructive to the point where you shouldn't even make them.

The search bar sucks. The ease with which one works around its suckiness is irrelevant.

GGGGGGggggggggggggGGGG

You'd have more luck going to Browser history and ctrl + -blam!- it.

Yes, I just recommended -blam!- your computer.

Wow, is that sequence of letters/symbols really blammed? That's crazy.

So what?

It should list the posts containing that word in reverse chronological order. Regardless of how broad that search was my post should be at least near the top.

the word was "dingus" so it's not that common anyway

Sorting by relevance makes way more sense.

*searches for a thread called "How to improve the BR" from 2007*

>first result: A thread called "How to improve the Title System" from 2012.

>intended search item is back on page 3.

  • 07.08.2012 4:06 PM PDT

Needs more regex.

Solution:
Have the option for both chronological order and order of relevance

Why not have a year/date option as well?

That's fine then. I thought you were suggesting the only option be chronological order.

I agree that the search feature needs improvement. Bungie will be updating their website with the New Hawtness soon and I'm sure this issue will be resolved at that time.

Does anyone even read these?

It's been like this for a while, hopefully the new site update will improve it.
