Subject: Avatar System

People get enough for behaving, the idea just limits newer members which sucks.
Or gives them an incentive to use the one account and to behave themselves, and something to strive to achieve.

And just to throw this out there, is it fair that a member who signed up five minutes ago gets the same privileges here (except group creation) that a member who signed up ten years ago does?

Honestly, I think it's completely fair. Not only because being a member of Bungie.net for so long is a reward in itself. But also because an elder member needs no more privileges, and a newer member need no less. Maybe I'm not thinking of the same thing as you when you say "privileges".

I understand the want to give users a reason to follow the rules and use a single account. But would throwing in more toys and badges really sweeten the deal? I wonder how much "incentive" is really necessary, or makes a difference.

Either way...

It would certainly help that process if accounts were able to be linked/unlinked to different Gamertags more easily. Sure, it might not affect that many people and hasn't affected me personally but I feel that it would give no reason to those who change their Gamertags to also change their profile.
These people might not be the main offenders when it comes to mass account creation, but surely it would ease the problem?

That's the whole idea of title bars and prefixes though. Avatars should be as numerous as possible for new guys to choose one which suits them best.

This has been argued to death. If more value was added to our accounts (value which is only currently in our title and title bar), it would decrease the number of alts. Simple as that.

I'd agree to this if the prefixes were trashed....

I'm either a fool or an inteligent man, depending on how sleepy or angry I am.

I originaly made an account on 07.27.2007 but I wanted to link my GT and made this account. Don't forget your passwords!

Whats the rank after my rank? I think that the rank after the rank I have should get these "select" avatars, but no sooner/less.

Still though, why not just make the entire avatar selection bigger? I'd love to change my avatar to Halo 3's SMG but it is not an option...

We already have our own custom avatars, and many of us use them, and they aren't title specific.

And if for some reason your player model/emblems are just not enough for you there is always coup. Also there is what Achronos said awhile back regarding Bungie pro and custom avatars among other sweet possibilities.

As for the OP's idea. Sure why not, it has its ups and downs. Personally I like my Avatar so I remain neutral. I won't sadface if this feature gets shot down.

I think you misunderstood the OP, or I did. OP is suggesting using avatars as an incentive to not be an idiot while posting.

With a system that offers a lot of fluctuation between titles, I don't think it is fair to punish users who lost titles through means other than being banned.

Only regret is I didn't play more of it.

If you haven't noticed by now, I'm sort of a jerk.

If the title system doesn't encourage some to stick to one account, adding in a few avatars won't accomplish any more.

New members get the same privileges as veteran members, with some exceptions like creating new threads or founding a group (for a while).

Besides those two features, all people get is a title, which doesn't limit any member in any way. It's just some words and a colored bar. Adding title-linked avatars wouldn't effect anything more than titles do.
