I think even after the ban you should be able to keep your avatar, to show you were at one time at that level.

On the topic of user-submitted custom avatars, one thing that concerns me is that forum-goers have terrible taste. If there's one thing that Coup has taught us, it's that the Bungie Community has a deep desire to make one's eyes bleed.

People get enough for behaving, the idea just limits newer members which sucks.
Or gives them an incentive to use the one account and to behave themselves, and something to strive to achieve.

And just to throw this out there, is it fair that a member who signed up five minutes ago gets the same privileges here (except group creation) that a member who signed up ten years ago does?
The reward for old members sticking around is the Bungie.net experience. Members who have been here longer don't deserve some kinds of "special rights". New members deserve to enjoy Bungie.net with the same privileges as older members. Older members, as I said, will have stayed around because they enjoy it here.

Is it "fair" for an outstanding new member to have fewer privileges as someone who has been here for 8 years with a bad record or reputation?

I think when you reach a certain rank you can put up your own avatar and it has to be approved by a ninja or something.

You imply a level of control over Halo: Reach matchmaking that we no longer have. Or, in your vernacular, it isn't our shiznit anymore.

Active 9/1/11, Heroic 12/25/12

I've always liked this idea, maybe we could have weekly contests for new avatar submissions?

Well, for everyone really, different avatars would unlock for Heroic, Legendary, Mythic and certain prefixes like Elder, Senior, Exalted, etc.

Oh, okay, I didn't know our hierarchy turned into acceptance for all :(

The Internet is an empowerment tool that's agnostic; it doesn't care about race, gender, or age.

I really don't see what is wrong with letting longtime users have their own avatar.

The Risk Is Worth The Reward.
Cry Havoc And Let Slip The Dogs Of War.

Good idea or not, I don't think this will ever happen.

I ♥ Bungie!

I dissagree with it only because I think it's unfair to the little guy.

I still think that SniperStealth should get a custom avatar before there are any member title/avatar privileges.

We miss you Logan.
Ask any question. I'll help with anything on site or off.

Me personally I like the titles the way they are.

Well, it would be sweet to create an avatar from scratch...

Bungie.net has been unique in my eyes because of the avatars and themes, they play to the lore of everything Bungie has created and adding custom avatars would break that....This place would be as plain and all over the place as other sites.

Hello.

After my 7 bans, I'll be Forever Member.

No custom avatars for me.

The reward for old members sticking around is the Bungie.net experience.
The same experience a new member has.

Members who have been here longer don't deserve some kinds of "special rights".
Why not? Should they not be rewarded for being the reason this site - this community - remains active? Especially considering the current Bungie situation.

I assume you are also against the current two-week waiting period for a new member to create a group?

Posted by: AcedannyK 7
New members deserve to enjoy Bungie.net with the same privileges as older members.
In time (and assuming they behave), sure, but not straight away because they can't be trusted.

Posted by: AcedannyK 7
Older members, as I said, will have stayed around because they enjoy it here.

Is it "fair" for an outstanding new member to have fewer privileges as someone who has been here for 8 years with a bad record or reputation?
It would depend on what the privileges were, how they could be used, what the requirements are for attaining them, etc...

Want Coup? Here it is for Chrome.

[url=http://iggyhopper.dyndns.org/gm/extensions/coup_d_bungie _4.crx[/url]

I would like this. I'd even appreciate a special difficulty shield for your avatar.

Even more so if higher ranking members/members of 7+ years could make custom avatars.
