Threads should always have discussion value. Threads with little-to-no discussion value I consider as spam.

DMH

Personally, they annoy the hell out of me.

But I don't actually consider them spam.

I often say T4R. No problem with it.

This. Also... OP might want to edit the OP to avoid a ban...

Well it depends. If the title has discussion value as is, why bother to write even more to get the same point across?

But why not go into more depth of detail on the point of the title rather than leave it to the reader to guess?

The more you describe and explain your point, the better the discussion will be (typically), and the further it will drive itself forward.

This has been my experience at least.

Being able to have the OP as "T4R" usually indicates that the thread doesn't have much discussion value, although I wouldn't consider them spam.

  • 07.09.2012 6:52 AM PDT

Just because it's not as wordy as other posts doesn't mean it's spam. These threads are fine.

Man of God. Fan of Bungie. Eater of many Jr. Bacon cheeseburgers.

Sometimes it's hard to judge what will get people talking. Sometimes a single phrase is enough. What interests you in participating in a conversation may not work for someone else. Maybe those people, whose threads you consider spam, think they are bringing up something that will interest the community.

That example is a little extreme.

I can agree with this to some extent, although I feel the OP should elaborate more on his own post when he can rather just add T4R. Sure, it can be just enough for the OP, but what's OP's opinion/idea/whatever on the subject? To me, it seems like it's a thread being made for the sake of being made.

  • 07.09.2012 8:27 AM PDT

That doesn't make any sense. If the subject already clarifies what the topic should be about (meaning the topic is likely relatively simple), then how are you going to consider it spam for the OP just not wanting to repeat himself?

First of all, your post is against the rules. You're not supposed to single out users.

Secondly, 'T4R' is alright if the title summed up everything that needed to be said. And, so long as the title creates discussion (and is not otherwise against the rules), the post is fine.

Halo: Tactical

I'm either a fool or an inteligent man, depending on how sleepy or angry I am.

I originaly made an account on 07.27.2007 but I wanted to link my GT and made this account. Don't forget your passwords!

What I hate about them is that they overlook the fact that we can't read the thread's title while replying.

First, I don't care... I require a sacrificial lamb...

Second....Ninjas have been locking threads and on rare occasions banning individuals who repeatedly create threads with no discussional value....that's why this thread is here...to put this to bed once and for all.

First of all, since the new rules write up, you are allowed to talk about individuals (but dont be a jerk).

Second of all....I agree. If the topic of discussion is simple enough to be explained in the title, there is no need for for an OP.
In fact its quite courteous to add anything beyond that and you should be incredibly grateful.
