Subject: Weapon Designs

Hey I am a big Bungie fan ever since I played Halo 2. I love the series, I love Bungie. I have made a few Bungie logos in my metal shop.

All of those look AWESOME.

Well the DMR had some Regular rifle designs. But my guess is that in reality Bullpup guns can be lighter and have longer barrels for the same weight, so they'd use them. I guess after that it's just keeping a consistent design style.

I liked the UNSC guns, realistic modern looking with that hint of futuristic look. Although some versions that never made it in looked nice.

Cause bullpup rifles allow the barrel to be longer, increasing damage?

and it allows the guns to be shorter. If you had the same barrel length of the DMR, but had the magazine in front of the trigger, it would probably be as long as the sniper rifle. Thats why the guns in Halo are so accurate.

Longer barrel allows for more rifling which gives it more accuracy. :o

I'm not that active, but never dead.

The one thing I never liked about all the Halo games is how the weapon designs never actually match how the weapon behaves.

If I was designing a video game, I would do things differently. I mean, I understand that different weapons are going to have different characteristics in order to balance the game play fairly, but what should be done is to figure out what characteristics weapons are going to have FIRST, and then design what they look like.

I remember reading about how the original Assault Rifle fired 7.62 x 51 NATO rounds. First, Does NATO even exist anymore if you have the UNSC? Second, considering the barrel length, magazine capacity, and caliber of the rifle, it should have much longer range, and be much more accurate. The magazine should also be a lot longer, or wider, or both.

Instead, they could have made it a conventional design instead of bullpup, given it a smaller magazine capacity, or smaller caliber.

Nothing make sense. Just as a disclaimer, I have a lot of firearms experience, and I'm not just talking -blam!- out of my ass.
