I have encountered lots of people teaming up recently in lone wolfs and i wont be able to rank up since they destroy the little chance i have of winning consistently. Is it even worth sending a file complaint or should i just switch playlist?

Welcome to the wonderful world of Boostwolves. I really don't think there's anything you could do about it now; maybe if Bungie were still managing the game and you had video evidence, you could do something, but it's really not possible anymore. This is pretty common in LW and can be really annoying. I've never really enjoyed LW, so if it's bothering you now, I suggest you just switch playlists until you're a stronger player. (That's not a slam on you; it just helps to already have a 50 in something else so that LW isn't as stressful).

It is beyond sad and pathetic that people are still boosting in Halo 3. I remember get hit offline in Social Slayer 'cause a kid wanted to prove he could boot. >.>

OP, there is nothing you can do since nobody is managing or cares about Halo 3. Try searching at different times since there are more Americans boosting than Europeans. Also, change your language to English if it isn't already. My xbox is in Japanese since I have been studying it and I run into boosters a lot (they change language to boost).

I'm sorry America is busy helping others in the world and actually making a difference.

Something Canada will never do.

LW sucks ass, even without people circle boosting it's too annoying.

Why not stop by my File Share while you're here?

Only regret is I didn't play more of it.

If you haven't noticed by now, I'm sort of a jerk.

I hate lonewolfs too. The reason why I play lonewolfs is to rank up, something I can't do in other playlists.
Would the file complaint still be useless even if I send 10 of them?

From what I understand, filing multiple complaints only raises a red flag against you rather than the person(s) you are reporting. No one gives favorable acknowledgments, ever. So the system only sees it as abuse if you multi complain.

So just report / avoid (even though it does NOTHING other than make you feel better that you did 'something') and move on.

If you run into 4-5 pathetic boosters then ya it sucks. But usually I enjoy LW, but not nearly as much as MLG...

Explain to me. How does one 'cheat' in Halo 3?

Depends, there are several ways:

Host booting/Bridging: This is basically where a player uses the IP address of the players and attacks their connection, lagging them out of the game as if they quit. This is actually called DDoS, or distributed denial of service, and is seriously illegal. This can also be used to simply impair the connection of a player to the point where their connection is acting like it's based out of Mexico.

Language Glitch: This isn't a glitch, strictly speaking. Players set the languages of their Xbox to off-the-wall languages that not many people speak, then set their search preference to "prefer my language". Then they search in LW or another FFA playlist and are more likely to encounter each other. They then team up and attempt to tie for 1st, or at least all finish in the EXP.

Hacking is actually extremely rare in Halo 3. In the 750 hours+ that I've put into H3's matchmaking, I've never encountered a single hacker. I know it HAS happened before, though, so I guess you could count that.

Host booting/Bridging:

Bridging is definitely not the same as hostbooting. Bridging is forcing a teammate to have host for a game. It's not meant to lag anyone out, just give your team member an advantage for having host.

Hanger one I just shredded with the SMGs until ammo was out and I just threw 'nades like a boss while BRing.

My experience playing Cairo Station on Legendary

Well, teaming up in Lone Wolves is difficult to catch with normal algorithms. It's greasy, but because ever player dies and kills, it registers as normal playing. Report and Move on I guess is the best you can do. Besides, it's fairly difficult to consistently match with a friend over LIVE.

I'm aware of that, but they're executed similarly so I decided to group them together. Then I forgot to explain bridging in my post. Sorry for that. :)

bridging and standbying usually go hand in hand

My Halo 3 service record has several things that are incorrect. My KD is above 1.0 in both ranked and social, and I am a much higher rank. Also I have several perfections and my "player since" date is wrong because I have had Halo 3 since the launch date in 2007 (september 25 I think).

Contact Me: benjitellin@live.com

this completely has to do with me not being able to rank up in the playlist! (I'm still a 40) for those who read my previous topic.
