343 should focus on a new IP.

Except they want to make Halo. That's why they joined 343i, a studio made by Microsoft for everything Halo.

Halo will continue to live until it becomes unprofitable.

Sad...people are soo fixed on money these days, they don't care what quality suffers beacause of it. I'd really hate for my "image" of halo to be ruined...or get worse than it already is.

If it is profitable it makes a lot of money. Therefore the quality should be good. I agree that they should have ended with Halo: 3, however would you rather have it end on Reach?

I'm still waiting on a Halo game working from the Covenants perspective.

And I'm still hoping we'll get a Halo game focusing on a marine.

Halo has much room to expand into other areas.

Why does that matter? As long as the games deliver a consistently good quality story, multiplayer and extra features then why shouldn;t the series go on? However, Frankie said that they have a definite END planned for the Halo franchise.

What??? your talking about that secret ending... We still finished the fight!!! whenever we finish the fight in halo 6 (if profitable) what then?? another "new trilogy"

Halo is following the CoD trend. I guarantee this "new trilogy" will be nothing more than a wash, rinse, repeat.

It depends. If new installments contain new originality, it could continue for at least a bit longer and remain fresh.

I have to agree that Halo 6 does sound weird, though.

Are you making some kind of obscenely bad joke?

Halo 4 is a direct continuation of what the final mission of Halo 3 set up. It's pretty clear you just weren't paying attention to it because we most definitely did not 'finish the fight' in Halo 3. Halo 3 only tied up 1 plot point and that was the war with the Covenant as a major threat to humanity, everything else was left hanging.

Mendicant Bias tells John he's sending him to the Forerunners (confirming that they're alive, and this alone sets up the potential for a whole new trilogy), Gravemind states that John has only delayed his return, the Flood are still out there either on the other Halos (which are still primed and ready to fire) or drifting towards the galaxy from beyond the Milky Way. What's more, it would have been an absolutely horrid end for John and Cortana if they just left them drifting in space. We spent all of Halo 3 building up to rescuing Cortana, what would that amount to for her character if she were just left to sit around on the Dawn and become rampant?

The Reclaimer Trilogy sounds like it's doing EVERYTHING right in terms of story. Finally the games are being interweaved with the other media (like the books) which have become infinitely more sophisticated as time has gone on. The Reclaimer trilogy is nothing short of a godsend for the Halo story.

How exactly will this be a 'rise' and 'repeat' of the previous Halo games when we've got the larger picture (which w've been pushing towards ever since Halo CE) finally opening up? From the way they're tying in the Reclaimer Trilogy with the novels, the Precursors will be returning in order to settle a 3 million year long mission to destroy the Forerunners test humanity to see if they're worthy of the Mantle. There is absolutely nothing about this which is 'wash, rinse, repeat'. It's a whole new story directly continuing from what the final mission of Halo 3 set up and combining it with the ongoing narrative direction of the novels.

Let's be honest, MCs story in games could of ended there at the end of H3, at least, in the games.

How? Mendicant Bias tells John in the final Terminal (at the start of the final mission) that he is sending HIM to the Forerunners. Not anyone else, he's sending JOHN to the FORERUNNERS. Not only did this confirm fully at the time that the Forerunners are alive, having exiled themselves from the Orion Arm of the galaxy after reseeding the galaxy of life, it's the Chief who he sends as his avatar of atonement to them.

How did that end John's story when a revelation of that size opens up the possibility for a whole new trilogy?

I said game-wise, his story might could of ended.

But I do want to know, are you talking about H3 terminals because frankly, I do not remember reading/hearing that at all.

If it was said in H3, then I am wrong about my original statement.
But if they where said in CE:A terminals, my point still stands. Back in 2007 when H3 was released, John's story could of ended right there and then.

This is what I'm talking about. The Terminals are 'game-wise', this is all from Halo 3.

But I do want to know, are you talking about H3 terminals because frankly, I do not remember reading/hearing that at all.

In each Terminal, depending on the difficulty you'd get a different transcript. Typically, they'd be conversations between the Didact and the Librarian where the former was delaying the activation of the Halos while the latter stranded herself on Earth and talked about humanity and their possible relation to the Precursors.

However, other transcripts come from the point of view of Mendicant Bias who interrupts parts of the story, breaking into the present tense. Offensive Bias split him into 2 fragments - one on the Ark and the other on the Forerunner Keyship, once Truth gets to the Ark then the pieces begin to join together again and he reaches Metastability, the final stage of rampancy. In the end, on Legendary, he realises that he was wrong to betray the Forerunners and wants to atone, he then tells John that he's sending him to them and will keep the path ahead of him safe.

Guess I was wrong from the start then lol.

This is what I missed entirely.
I think I got them all once on normal then never really paid more attention to them.

I appreciate the history class lol.

You could probably find the transcripts online somewhere and Vociferous' blog 'Ascendant Justice' has a very insightful analysis into each Terminal and what they mean for the story.

Happy to educate. :P

I intend to live forever, or die trying,

so far, so good.

If done correctly, the Reclaimer Trioligy could be better than the original.

Yes MS will make lots of money from Halo.

But at least their not milking it like Activison are with COD.

You must give Bungie credit, as they could have just keep making Halo games, and would had always had an income, but they have decieded to start a whole new project, which could fail.

I don't think it will, and can't wait to they release some information on what they are working on. A trailer would be nice.
