I think you shoud be able to swim in Halo 3. In halo 1 and 2, you fall through water as if it were just smoke. They don't have to add swimming, but they can unleast make it more realistic when you fall into water. But when you swim there has to be some disadvantages. There should be some animals or sharks or somethin in the water that can kill you. Also you dont have a long lung capacity when underwater.

chief weighs half a ton and his suit has enough air for 90 minutes at least, by the year 2552, im sure all marine life would be extinct anyways from all the crap we throw into the ocean

I am...whimsical today.

I think it would be difficult for him to swim, but the water should offer more resistance to him, instead of just a visual thing.

The problem with MC in water is that it's not normal water. It's super alien water that rusts his suit on contact. It also creates a short in the system that electrocutes him instantly which is why he dies.

he already can lift the suit as if it's not even there, so swimming would be just as easy for him with it on as it would be without it on. but water might short it out or poluted water could cause it to rust real fast, who knows. all i know is just because it ways a ton doesn't mean he will sink, because he already can support it.

500 lb armor plus MC's actual body weight would be unbelievably hard to keep afloat.

It just isnt likely

I remeber reading in one of the books that the cheif was able to inflate the gel padding in his armor to reduce damage given from major blows. maybe when he falls in water he can inflate these to assist him in the water but it is unlikely, cheif weighs too much. Buti do think that it is lame that his suite can work in zero gravity enviroments but he dies when he falls in water. They should make it so he can walk under water to get back on the surface, its a little more realistic

Well, actually, half a ton is 1000, not 500. And though you have all made good points, Masterchief would probably drop like a rock at first. He probably could swim though - he is strong enough to flip the Hog with 1 hand, and the scorpion with 2 (66 tons, or 132,000 pounds). It would be cool if he falls more slowly in water, but moves normally at the bottom, and can move while falling through the water.

Levels need boundaries, and people hate being closed in, so having the view of not being closed in, but actually having a wall there is realistic, and gives the people what they want.

Thanks for clearing it up for him and as for the elites they have hooves and only two fingers not quite built for swimming, and let's not forget the weight of their armor.

One more thing you were right about the way that they die when they fall in the water. They fall they do not sink at all plus there is no splash what's up with that and also on the water falls you walk under them and you don't get hit by the water but then again it came out 2 years ago when we had primitive technology for graphichs and those things and other things.

"animals or sharks or somethin"

I really hope your joking about this... swimming although would be realistic would have absolutely no value to game play. Whatsoever.

This idea is almost as bad as the day I began playing Pariah
