i've always wanted exploding heads or being able to blow someones body parts off with a grenade or a sniper rifle.

I'd have to say that limbs or heads being blown off just isn't what Halo's about. I would however like to see more responses to body part impact. It'd be cool to see the head of an opponent kick backward when shot by a sniper or the feet of an opponent get pushed out from under him/her when shot.

no exploding heads, perhaps just a larger ammount of blood than normal, but not excessive.

Yeah mate, I agree with your idea!, Also what about bullet wounds in the flesh when they get shot? And the armour becoming scratched and dented???

How about applying Havok physics and layered damage effects but strictly concentrating on the ass?...Like if u stick a grenade to someones ass does like one cheek get blown off..what about the rectum? Is it left intact? Can u make it larger by blastin at it with ....o say..a sniper rifle or well placed rocker shot...and can this technology also be applied to the balls?

O_O

i agree. gore is fun, but it would distract from the awesome storyline. also having the reactions described above would be awesome. i was playin ghost recon with a friend and i scared the crap outta him when i picked off one of his guys. the guy just grabbed his gut and fell over.

You are way too eager for balls, man.

To be honest, and I've said earlier, my original idea of exploding heads is pretty lame on reflection. I mean it's kinda fun (in a ghoulish way) to think about it, and then you realise it just doesn't fit at all into Halo's multiplayer feel.

That said, I do think some advances in the visible physical damage to Spartan armour and the flesh underneath, if sensible, would probably make the game that much more immersive and visually striking. Such an approach might consider bullets penetrating the armour upon a player's demise, plasma burns and damage in the same light and the effects of both frag and sticky grenades. Above all though, animation is king.

I think Bungie will probably hit the right balance as they always have in the past.

He watches every Hodgetwin video they put up...on ALL their channels. He calls them the Hodge Triplets, and considers himself the 3rd triplet. He's started talking and acting like them now. Every other line out of his mouth "Thaaas some BULLLLLL**** maaayne" or "Gotta make dem gainzzzz". He calls his biceps "gains". When he eats post-workout, he talks to his biceps, "Don't worry gains, I'm feeding you. Daddys gonna feed you, gainz *kisses biceps*".

The only thing i say to your head expliding proposition is it is un-realistic. People's heads dont expliode from bullets, the bullet goes through, and comes out the other end, it dosnt transfer any energy in any other direction than its going. Simple physics. I also dont think it needs any of that kind of stuff. I would definately love to see a little more reality in Campaign though, like if your freind gt shot in the leg, he would limp, or in the chest and he would hold his chest and so forth. We dont need gore to make things good.

Not quite... I've got a video on my computer of a terrorist in Afghanistan getting hit by a 50 caliber rifle. There's nothing polite about it, so I won't mince words: his head blew up. There wasn't much left.

Nonetheless, I don't think heads should blow up. It'd be quite unrealistic, since the guy has a helmet on, presumably. If you're wearing a MJOLNIR helmet, that should contain any blowing up. I think there should be a bloody holes in the visor and armor, though...

So... what I was thinking is. Should a headshot from the sniper rifle (and ONLY the sniper rifle) result in the multiplayer character's head exploding like an over-ripe water melon? Maybe.....maybe not... I don't even know myself.

Umm...that might be taking it a little too far...though that would be freaking hilarious. :-D

It was rated M both times, it wouldnt matter.

First of all, Ive seen a picture of a man that had been shot in the head by a .50 cal sniper rifle. Simple physics my a ss, the guys head was plit in many ways, his brains were all over the ground. I don't think an exploding head would prove realistic since they are Spartans and all, but I would like to see some cracked visors, large blood spray, etc. But I also think they should do away with the whole back flip crap they got going, the force of the bullet coming out of the barrel it equal to the force being put on the person holding the gun. If that bullet had enough power to give a 400 hundred pound super human a back flip, then the man holding the gun would also have to have no right arm.

Now thats simple physics

If you shoot a Marine with a charged-up Plasma Pistol, it doesn't hurt them.

WTF? Why did I just say that here? Argh...wrong forums damnit.

Hello fellow forum users.

My name is Chomskyite and I officially revoke my former suggestion of exploding heads in Halo 3 multiplayer. Feel free to mock me if you please but know that I no longer hold my original conviction; which wasn't really any conviction at all.... as my original post makes clear.

I love you all x x

P.S. Sausages.

Yeah, I realized that early, that's why I haven't been posting here. Too much dissapointment.

i think the master chiefs armor should get dented and chipped away at when shot. it shot it the face his visor could crack if shot from close with a shot gun there would be a hole (not all the way through) if you get shot with your shields down your armor should get riddled with bullet holes

Heck yes there should be gore. Death animations should be violent in nature and depiction, it's what actually happens. If a sniper round hits a player in the head, their head and some of their neck and shoulders should explode. If they die from shots to the abdomen, their entrails should erupt out in a spray of blood and they should catch them before they hit the ground. If their hit in the appendages, that should either be mangled or fall off. If they blow up (i.e. rocket, grenade, tank shell) they should be ripped apart and their gore should land on the map. If they're hit by the Wraith cannon, they should be vaporized with no visible remains. I also think that bodies or their individual parts should be permanent parts of the map, and usable as crude cover.

EDIT: The first two Halos didn't even deserve an "M" rating, the ESRB just hates the military and firearms.

i like the vaporization, sort of like war of the worlds. Your body should just turn into a ball of light and then grey dust will fall to the ground, and then if you are standing next to the guy you turn gray because you are covered in dust.

That reminds me, the Turok games were pretty awful, but they did feature some awesome death animations. The cerebral bore is still one of my favorite FPS weapons of all time.
