My Halo 3 service record has several things that are incorrect. My KD is above 1.0 in both ranked and social, and I am a much higher rank. Also I have several perfections and my "player since" date is wrong because I have had Halo 3 since the launch date in 2007 (september 25 I think).

The very first thread I ever made was actually about this topic, and I got some great help then, so I feel obliged to help out here.
First off, you should play MLG. A LOT!!! It requires a strong BR and good awareness, which you'll develop just by playing the playlist. Play with people better than you in customs whenever you can; it will be frustrating at first, but you'll adapt quickly if you stay focused.
Next, team shot. If you have two BRs against one, you're going to win. Stick with a teammate as much as you can and focus and listening to each other's callouts; you'll often be able to clean up weak enemies or team shot an enemy and you'll pick up a lot of free kills that will really benefit your team. This is even more important than having an individually strong BR.
Strafe: This is where it gets a little trickier. The important thing to remember while having a BR duel is to keep moving in different directions. I often catch my less skilled friends just moving in a sideways line and calling it a strafe. That's almost exactly the same as walking straight towards me in a line; be sure to move from side to side constantly. At first it will be hard to focus on doing that many things at once, but strafing can save you a lot of deaths if you focus. Here's a video on the topic to show you a few different strafes:

Aim your first 3 shots for the body and the last one for the head. You've probably heard this already a ton of times, but it really is the best way to improve. It's much easier to land shots to the torso as opposed to the head; as you improve you'll naturally aim for the head more often, but for now just focus on landing your shots in general.
Make sure that you're leading your shots appropriately; if you're putting your reticle directly on an enemy, your shots won't land unless you're very close. Make sure you pay attention to how much you need to lead your shots at certain distances.
Don't play SWAT to improve your BR, no matter what anyone tells you. The BR is mostly about consistency; SWAT only helps you learn to quickly get a bead on someone and aim for the head. You could learn similar skills by playin Snipers, and gain the added bonus of being able to snipe well.
Don't focus on getting in individual BR battles. To be honest, they really don't happen that often. If you have solid teamwork and good awareness, you'll be cleaning up weak enemies or teamshotting most of the team anyway. Getting in individual duels is risky at best, and most of the time there's really no reason to. Try to get the first shot on someone whenever you can through superior awareness; you'll feel better going into the fight that you're already a shot up.
To practice consitency, try setting up a cusom in a small arena where you get 100% shield vampirism for every shot you land. THeoretically, nobody should ever die. Obviously this won;t be the case, but it will help you out, and the slower-paced gameplay will giv you time to focus on your strafe and leading your shots.
That should get you started. Best of luck to you! mlg is filled with dixs so i never play it. only lone wolves, TS, and Swat.
