The fact that it works better on Windows 8 does not make the game better. Heck, you could almost say that it makes it even worse because it took this long to find a way to make the damn thing work.
Now, lets see if Windows 8 can make the game tolerable to play to anyone that isn't either EXTREMELY bored or has ADHD and loves to see bullets hit people that are five feet away from the targeting reticule.
Regardless of current perceptions of Halo 2 Vista, it would be a killer app/game to have on a Windows 8 tablet. It's still a fact that not many people have heard about Halo 2 Vista. By people, I mean Xbox 360 gamers who spend limited to no time playing PC games. I still get messages while playing Halo 2 Vista from people on xbox asking me how I'm playing Halo 2 on the Xbox again or how I'm playing Xbox on the PC and other ridiculous things like that.
Anyways, the point is, picture this scenario. A group of people are sitting together using tablets. One has an iPad, another has an Android tablet, and the third has a Windows 8 tablet. All three are comparing their tablets. The iPad owner brags about his retina display and having more apps & HD games like Angry Birds. The Android tablet owner brags about having better hardware and customization with a Tegra 3 processor so Angry Birds runs faster. The Windows 8 tablet owner, who was quiet the whole time, finally speaks. He says that his tablet not only has a quad-core x86 Core i5 CPU which can run Angry Birds better and faster than the Android and iOS tablets, but he also has Halo 1 & 2 on his tablet as well as numerous AAA games including Crysis, Gears of War, GTA, and so on.
All of a sudden, the Android tablet and iPads look like children's toys compared to the Windows 8 tablet. The phrase "Halo 2 on a tablet" or "AAA console games on a tablet" are not frequently spoken in the world of tablets today. Halo 2 Vista is still technically a AAA game and being able to play it or any AAA game on a tablet makes that tablet much more valuable and non Windows tablet owners will get jealous thus boosting sales of Windows 8 tablets.
Essentially, Halo 2 Vista can still be fun for showing off to your friends who are under the idea that Windows isn't good on tablets or that Android/iOS is the best for tablets. I think Halo 2 Vista or any GFWL game would be good for marketing a Windows 8 tablet. Android tablets and iPad marketing show the tablets running the latest tablet games (Angry Birds or tablet versions of Mass Effect/Dead Space). Microsoft could one up them and show off all the top console/PC games running on a Windows 8 tablet. It will create a whole new market of gaming tablets similar to the rise of gaming laptops (lol).
So those are just my opinions/ideas on the benefits of being able to run Halo 2 Vista and any GFWL game on Windows 8.
