I came for Halo, but I heard the Tru7h, fought thru Carnage, and stayed for Bungie.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

If you didn't intend to make a thread seriously, then you shouldn't of made it. These were some very serious allegations and it really wasn't funny, at all.

They're fair in my opinion. The mods are great around here. I think they do there job well and think many don't appreciate what they do enough. There has only been one occasion that I wasn't sure I agreed with them. That's a good enough record for me.

  • 07.13.2012 7:49 AM PDT

@spaboolly

Like Ken said, if you don't mean a thread to be serious, you shouldn't post it. But since the topic is here and up for discussion, here's how I think of it:

If you throw a party at your place, and there is a guest who is being rude, obnoxious, threatening, and generally disrupting the event, how is it unfair for you to throw him out and lock the door behind him?

Some people just need to be permanently removed from certain environments. Taking that step when it is appropriate is not in any way a sign of a power trip or unjust treatment.

Ken, you need to learn when it's time to take off your thinking cap and stop being mr. detective.

Not everything on the internet is serious.

I think permabans are fair, people who get permaban, it's because they earned it and didn't care of the result of their wrongful actions.

Like Ken has said, we each go into these threads with the mindset of having a serious discussion, even DeeJ took this looney seriously. To know that OP was posting in a humours manner(at least in OP's opinion) will result in a loss of respect and validity similar to the fable "The Boy Who Cried Wolf."

Nope. As stated in the very first response by me and I'll say it again, 0/10.

Also, OP should be banned.

No I knew OP was joking the entire time, it just was not funny, at all. It was so obvious and and so forced I couldn't even get a chuckle out of it.

If anything, threads like these make the discussion of perma bans lose their credibility in terms of the responsibility and maturity of the users. And when you insinuate mods are drunk banning or careless, it is very disrespectful to people who spend THEIR OWN TIME to make the site better and safer for us.

What the hell is wrong with everybody?

Fine it was a bad attempt at a joke or whatever, but why are all of you getting your panties in a bunch? I don't think a topic like this which has been discussed to death already in this forum is worth putting on your serious face on. Deej didn't even respond in a serious manner like most of you have done.

Dudes, it's the internet, calm down. Internet is not serious business. Ken and some others are taking this too serious like he just committed a crime against humanity.

Relax.

4. Permabans are a service that the Ninja's provide to protect upstanding citizens...
I never thought about it from that perspective. So every time Recon lays the law down on some twink, he's doing it to ensure that my experience on b.net is more satisfying. Thanks for being so considerate Recon! Keep up the good work!

Perma bans CAN be appealed and people have had them appealed mybe a few months after getting them. Usually you have to talk with Achronos about it.

They do get overturned but if you are perma banned then usually it is something pretty bad.
Sure you did, skenny. You knew all along.

It's immature, stupid, and I think the option to ban permanently should be removed from the site.

On a serious note: Why the -blam!- can't we appeal bans anymore?

You can always appeal bans, doesn't mean a mod will lower the sentence or remove it.

Usually it is hard to appeal a ban because the ninjas have the posts and atrocities you committed in addition to their given right to interpret the rules the way they see fit.

Think of the mods like judge dred, judge, jury, executioner.
