i have a few ides of what will happen to cortana during halo 4. but i haven't read all of the halo books so it may be in one, if it is then tell me the book. and hopefully most know that she is on her 8th year while and AI only lives for 7...bungie... *please no spoilers, only want to know everyone's thoughts*

one of the things that i say will happen to her is that she is gonna go totally crazy and chief is gonna have to find his own way out and to do w/e he is doing there.

the second one is that chief will save her and everything and everyone will be all good and a happy ending.

my last is that chief will try to save her but she will be going insane and something tragic will happen.

Correct me if I'm wrong someone but Halo 4 is all about the relationship John has with Cortana and we delve into John's past (more Spartan II's appearing?).

I know for a fact that the Reclaimer trilogy, unlike the Halo trilogy, is an actual planned trilogy. Halo 4 starts is all off, Halo 5 is said to be the darkest Halo yet and then the conclusion will happen in Halo 6. Now, judging from the trailer I would have to say that Cortana goes rampant and turns on the Master Chief and throughout the course of Halo 5, rumoured to be the darkest Halo to date, the Master Chief will have to work against Cortana throughout the campaign.

Just my theory.

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

The trilogy will end in either two ways:

1. Cortana goes Rampant and betrays the Chief and the Chief is forced to kill Cortana, essentially killing a part of himself.

2. Cortana, battling through various struggles and conflicts, achives metastability and lives on with the Chief forever... Then the Chief is turned into an AI and they fall in love and have cyber buttsecks like the two AI's from Contact Harvest.

Okay, maybe not that last part, but yeah.

Haters are going to hate.
Praisers are going to praise.

The Bungie Forums are what keeps my mind sharp and my fingers active, between writing my own movie scripts, drawing, and studying industrial design. At the moment I'm working on miniatures for a short movie that I'll hopefully be able to film once I've saved up for a camera... That's me, with the mug, trying to have a conversation with Konoko.

The underlined part has been an idea of mine as well; that he'll get so badly hurt--like you know who--that he'll have to become an a.i in order to survive. How else would he get the peace he deserves? They can't just put him back into cryo, that's arleady been done in Halo 3. (If he survives that is).

I am partial to the idea that in Cortana's increasing rampancy she and the Chief are pinned against one another.

John would be upset if Cortana dies. He wouldn't go Emo, he's lost far more in his life than an AI.

True, but then again as he himself said ''Cortana is not just another piece of equipment''. The Chief has never experience love and this is the closest he's been to it. If he looses Cortana, it will be unlike anything he's lost before. He was trained to accept fellow marine and spartan casualties, but not to deal with the loss of one he loves.

Well actualy, in the older books, he calls Cortana "just another piece of equipment" and then corrects himself as he needs her to complete his mission (And there are no replacement smart AIs who have Cortana's skill floating around in space are there?).

Chief relies on Cortana far much more than he used to and she is going crazy as he knew she would. I don't see how they are going to go into Chief's past, his feelings, etc. but John knows that he must not reveal himself to others. (Book scene where he meets someone he saved as a kid before he was a spartain.)

Think of the knowledge Cortana must have. Tramping across countless Forerunner installations, more contact with Covenant systems then that can be counted, and not to mention all of the data she was programmed with or learned from UNSC databases. She must possess an unbelievable amount of information and just think the damage she could do if she went crazy.

I'm getting the vibe that Cortana ends up betraying the Chief, due to rampancy.

-True story.

Guize i think she might go rampunt.

I predict they she learns something about Requiem. Most likely that it is a shield world or some other Forerunner installation in which the occupants will be protected. When the Infinity tries to leave and continue out its mission she refuses to let the crew along with the Master Chief to leave going into Catherine Halsey mode trying to save them.
