Halo 3 should include sometype of Heavy Support Weapon, Similar to the real life M249 SAW,
which holds 100 to 200 hundred rounds in a bag clip.

Clearly with the power of this weapon comes serious balancing issues, some which could be solved by allowing the weapon to overheat during susstained fire. And also allowing the shooter to run slightly slower.

Include your ideas and comments below.

It doesn't really seem necessary. Turrents are usually planted in places where you might need a gun like that.

I think that it is a great idea. Turrents are designed to blanket an area with a "wall" of lead within a very limited field of fire. A SAW is a great idea because it gives your squad the ability to lay down some serious supression fire while the squad is on the move. It changes tactics and gives your squad the flexibility to deal with a larger range of situatuions. Everyone armed with rifles can only do so much in combat. Sometimes a SAW is needed. For those people that are worried about balance, maybe it doesn't have to be included in MP.

But I don't think it should be based on the M249 because the M249 fires 5.56mm rounds which won't do much against the majority of Covenant forces. Instead, it should be based on the M240 B which fires the 7.62mm round like the stationary turrents. Basically, more firepower.

I think it should be an all new gun design....but not rediculous looking...and mebbe a covenant needle blaster or something. Shoots a bazillion needles that only track in very general direction if atall

The turrets are SAW's as well. Go read it at www.haloarchives.net. It would be interesting to unhinge large turrets from the stand(like in far cry), but you would be slower, had to drop it to switch weapons, can't climb, and limited to about 200-300 rounds, seeing as how it would be powerful.
