The most dangerous gunslinger in the west.

An thumbs up/ upvote system!

This place is all boring and dull, so why not spice it up with a system like this, where members are constantly posting redundant things all around the forums in hopes of getting a larger meaningless number next to their name. It's perfect!

I suggest we get working on this straight away!

(This is a joke, please don't take it seriously)

Send everyone at Bungie 1000 PMs. They will get back to you on this in a few minutes

Why is 6 afraid of 7? Because Bungie kicks ass.

This place is all boring and dull,

wut

But seriously, how exactly would that spice things up?

Because alts, and that will only promote the creation of more alts in order to up vote yourself.

Also, have you ever gone to The Flood? It's a lot of popularity based topics that come up too, and this system would only promote the popularity idea more.

"If only, if only,"
The woodpecker sighs,
"The bark on the trees was as soft as the skies."
While the wolf waits below, hungry and lonely;
Crying to the moon,
"If only, if only."

I think there could be a separate user trust rating (2 ratings, 1 for titles (invisible) and 1 for users to see and judge (visible)) Which would show either a number or a rating bar.
Might help distinguish members who post useful stuff vs people who just sit back and let passive actions improve their title.

Key

How is this place "boring" and "dull" in any way it's not meant to be at this current point in time? Also, you're complaining about repeat and redundant topics (adding to blandness), when your own post adds to said blandness due to its own repetitiveness.

(Also, I'm aware that telling people that their complaining about repeat topics is a repeat complaint, and that being self aware of this fact is also repeated and that adding sidenotes to attempt to avoid persecution for said repetitiveness and complaining about complaining about complaining (etc. and ad. inf.).)

I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.

This isn't Facebook. We don't need it. It could be abused.

None of those are valid reasons. I really dislike the "this isn't Facebook" argument because no one can come up with anything to back it up other than "I don't like Facebook."

Just sayin'

That seems like a lot of work for people to go through for something that doesn't really benefit them that much...

Magic is magical, so are shoes... Along with plastic.
Don't forget to flush the toilet, because -blam!- stinks.

Wouldn't hurt.
This would rid of the hall of quote boxes, and allow members to show their support of a post without having to type "I agree" or "[quote]This". That's just a benefit everyone knows of, but then there's the seekers. The upvote seekers, the flood will initially be overrun by them... Unless mods were willing to destroy them, or members downvote them to oblivion.

Also, this is a fansite... All mindless praise of Bungie would receive hundreds of 'likes' while genuine discussion and constructive criticism would be flamed.

WyIdfyre: 'lol, who the hell would even wear those?'
AuSam: 'lol, who the hell would even have sex with dogs?'

-K-

It would be a pretty nice feature, truth be told.
Sometimes if I see a post which is borderline, I don't want to report it because there's nothing technically wrong with it, but at the same time - EVERYTHING IS WRONG WITH IT, I could vote it down.
Then rather than people making posts saying how much the agree with X user, they could just vote them up.

But whatever.

I don't think anybody's afraid of change, I just think that nobody agrees what the change should be.
