This isn't Facebook. We don't need it. It could be abused.

None of those are valid reasons. I really dislike the "this isn't Facebook" argument because no one can come up with anything to back it up other than "I don't like Facebook."

Just sayin'

You're too sensitive. I don't care what anyone thinks! Political Correctness is taking over America!!!

Please stop complaining about the 'death of a loved one' it's my job. They probably deserved it anyways. Here's a warning, if you keep making pentagrams out of the neighbors livestock I will personally come to your house and kill everyone you love. Now leave me alone, I got to get back to work.

What you see with me is what you get. I would rather be hated for what I am than loved for something that I'm not.

I am who I am, not who you want me to be. Your approval isn't needed and your opinion isn't required or desired.

Yeah I don't think so.

Users abuse harmless features on this site everyday. Report report report, create new thread create new thread create new thread, alt account alt account alt account. There are far worse things than a "thumbs-up" feature.

Hey I am a big Bungie fan ever since I played Halo 2. I love the series, I love Bungie. I have made a few Bungie logos in my metal shop.

Very True.

It would create popularity contests, with people "-rep"ing others that they don't particularly get on well with, and people "+rep"ing those that they kiss up to. Not to mention all the extra accounts people would make to +rep themselves and -rep others.
Ok that wasn't the best explanation, but what I'm saying is at least with the current system you can't corrupt yourself and everything is kept fair. The less we know about how the titles work, the better.

ISU Cyclones!

I would be ok with it. I mean how many quotes of "this" do we see? It would just be a more sophisticated way of doing that.

Adapt.

They think that they have pacified Ireland. They think that they have purchased half of us and intimidated the other half. They think that they have foreseen everything, think that they have provided against everything; but the fools, the fools, the fools! — they have left us our Fenian dead, and while Ireland holds these graves, Ireland unfree shall never be at peace

Bungie.net already has loads of popularity contests and people make alts all the time from being banned. So, those two arguments are pretty much out the window.

I'll just thumbs down everybody then.

Lol-troll :D

Totally would do this. Probably.

There is nothing wrong with change, if it's for the better. Change for the sake of change can piss off a lot of people, and doesn't always add anything new and better to a given subject [The backlash over Reach?].

I don't see what a 'thumbs up/down' feature would add to B.net [plus Facebook is shit: Why model our forums on their rubbish?]. If you say "A 'thumbs up/down' feature will give users a chance to judge content more thoroughly and and allow forum goers the chance to see what they're getting into prior to entering a thread', I'd say you can do that already, and user generated content that is favored or disliked sticks out like dogs balls anyway, that's why there is a post count, hot topic, top forum topics and pin-board in the forums.

Something flashy like the 'thumbs up/down' button will lead to spamming, enhanced trolling, and abuse by users, whilst adding nothing but a shiny new feature to the forums. I don't see how it would enhance my B.net user experience, or anyone else's for that matter. If anyone has evidence to the contrary, please share it.

This is my opinion.

You people have just sent my sides into orbit. A bunch of MLG try hards sucking the dick of some supposed pro half the thread hasn't even heard of. Classic.

Relevant.

Of course this would only happen because people would actually assign value to it like they do the polls on here. I still say we should have it but have a middle finger instead of a thumbs down.

I hate FaceBook and I don't have account, and here's the reason why, but Bungie.net != Facebook. Different sites, similar purposes but different audience and people that run the show, plus the Bungie.net community is one of the best.

I'm pretty sure half the people who say 'this isnt Facebook' don't actually have an account.
Facebook has some good features, which is probably why it gets more traffic than Youtube.
Personally with the 'thumb up/down' thing I couldn't care less, as long is was really subtle.

I kinda like this.

I suppose if a system like FB were to be implemented, I could live with it if it had a distinct Bungie/7th Column Flair to it. This would be interesting in The Flood. That's totally where it should be tested if it goes ahead.

STOP ASSAULT 2012

Who is Assault? Assault is a mod in the Bungie.net brony group. And what started out with good intentions, viciously spiraled down into a power hungry tyrant locking thread after thread after thread to quell all opposition to his tyrannical rule. Did I mention he is a tyrant?

To donate to the STOP ASSAULT 2012 movement, message me with your credit card info, full name, social security, full adress, and mothers maiden name.

Upvote systems promote group think. Which is bad.

Well my actual opinion on a system like this is that it would end up in nothing good, but many people seem to be supporting it. This is unexpected.

Yeah, but the main argument is "Dis is gonna be like Facebook, dis is gonna suk" vs. "U got nothin proofin it gonna be like Facebook so ur stupid"

Wow. It's a lot harder talking in improper sentences and using misspelled words than making actual sentences and words.

I hate FaceBook and I don't have account, and here's the reason why,

Get your tinfoil hats out!

To be honest, I don't see why people care about these sort of things.
Ok, facebook sees everything I do, so what? If they think keeping a photograph of me with a traffic cone on my head is useful for the 'CIA' then go ahead, or a comment to my friend saying 'check this video out lol' is going to help them increase their profits and take over the world then fine, they can waste their time.
The funny thing about the people who write these articles is they think they're so strong minded, yet they're so worried facebook is storing all this information to push products and ideas to the point where they're going to be brainwashed.
If I like something and I can afford it, ill buy it, I couldn't care less how I came to that conclusion. If someone tries to force something I dont like, I'll give them the one finger salute.

At the end of the day, Facebook is an open forum just like this one (which is why the addition of the odd facebook feature is brought up from time to time), where just about anyone can view what you type or upload , if your posting -blam!- that you dont want people to know about then your an idiot and its your own fault.

You know what's funny? Almost the same arguments against something like this were also made against the tagging/rating systems for files before it was added. "It would be abused!", "It would promote alt account creation!", "It would promote elitism!" (I'm sure someone said that), etc...

Considering the very little actual misuse of that particular feature (which was cleaned up), if these are serious arguments being put forth, it would seem more of a pressing issue that polls currently exist and should therefore be removed to prevent this so-called "abuse".

Overall, I see this system as being somewhat pointless. I prefer that threads are filtered based on activity simply because I know that, when posting, there's a high chance that discussion is still occurring within.
