It's even more important when you consider that HaloWars is technically the reason Halo 4's story exists as it does, since Wars introduced the Shield World.

It is a halo game rife with inaccuracies but still unfortunately it counts as a halo game. Even though when you look at most halo canon the only fight at harvest was in space with Admiral Cole.

Er... no. Other than the behaviour of the Elites in the 'Monsters' cutscene, there are no inaccuracies in the game extending beyond gameplay elements (Mark IV having shields) - but gameplay has never been a canonical representation of the Halo universe anyway.

Even though when you look at most halo canon the only fight at harvest was in space with Admiral Cole.

Again, no. There was the first battle of Harvest set during Staten's novel (Contact Harvest) which marked the first proper battle between humanity and the Covenant. Then they lifted Cole out of retirement and he went with 40 ships for the second battle of Harvest while Covenant forces on the ground searched for Forerunner relics (tying in with Halo Wars and the discovery of the Star Map).

I'm a 15 year old stuck in the middle of nowhere. Machinima director, screenplay writer, novelist, jazz musician, and Photoshop junkie.

Halo Wars is based off of the Halo universe, by definition it is a Halo game.

Was it good?
Well, it proved that an RTS can be done on consoles if its ridiculously simple.

Lol OP, you can't decide on your own what you consider part of a series or part of canon.

Anything MS/Bungie/343i/associates have released (with the exception of that one Legends episode) is official canon. Wether you like it or not.
Pretending things you don't like aren't canon or didn't happen is not only pointless, it's also a bit sad to be honest.

To answer your question: Yes, I consider Wars a Halo game for the simple fact that it is an official Halo game...And the best console RTS game out there. With an enjoyable story that is more in line with the books in terms of storytelling, epic cutscenes, great mixture between Age of Empires and Halo styled music and gameplay.

You very well understand the point i was making, not a large percentage of fans read the books and a even smaller percentage actually understands them.

Why not? Does it conflict with the existing canon?

Not at all. People seem to have put themselves under the delusion that because the Spartans have shields in gameplay the whole thing is non-canonical when we've known for years that gameplay is not representative of canon.

It should be noted that 343i more or less made the shields canon according to their visual guide book by adding in a bit about fielding prototype shield modules for testing the same year Halo Wars takes place.

Other gameplay factors such as AI integration and what have you have yet (if ever) to be canonized and still fit under the realm of gameplay-only though.

Personally I think Halo Wars is a great game. It took the series in a new direction which, I think, worked well.

Also, as Teagg said above me, just because Bungie/343i didn't make the game doesn't mean it isn't canon. It's still a Halo game despite it not being an FPS.
I feel the exact same way. It could have been a lot better, but it was still good.

Edit: Spelling Error.

I don't.......I've never played it and I don't care to play it. It's probably not a bad game but I'm not into RTS games anymore.
