Like the "Who is Your Favourite Female Character?" thread, you can choose from anyone in the Halo Universe and not just those seen in the games.

I actually found this one pretty hard to answer myself as I don't generally find the male characters likable enough (save from the MC, Johnson, Buck and Six) although I suppose CPO Mendez and Sam were alright.
For me, out of the six I mentioned, it'd have to be Buck. He knows how to lead a squad without most of them dying.

Hey I am a big Bungie fan ever since I played Halo 2. I love the series, I love Bungie. I have made a few Bungie logos in my metal shop.

CE-H2 era Chief: this was when Chief was actually seen doing something unlike in H3.

In particular, playing as Chief in CE is far more immersive than in any other available Halo game. That's when:

1. The game wasn't just about Chief. On the game box art, you can see the marines, Banshees, Warthog, Halo. Not just Chief in a heroic pose taking up 2/3 of the box art.
2. The game was as expected. H2 turned out differently.
3. The game wasn't an overrated epic like H3. Handled immersion 20x better, levels were long and had replay value, and there are still new things being discovered/done years after it's release (i.e. T2T).

H2 is a worthy successor (but not necessarily as much as H4, which looks even more worthy to me, at least when comparing campaigns). H3 is not.

Arbiter: He gives you one look of justified anger, you know you're dead. The one thing in H3 I will never forget. Playing as him in H2 was the bomb.

Johnson: Enough said.

Honorable mentions: Kurt, Capt. Keyes, Stacker, Dubbo, most marines in CE, ODSTs from H3: ODST, overdramatic trooper on New Alexandria, Jorge

That's who I would go if I had to pick a 'canon' character, but no one ever said we were restricted to that. So I'm going... Pvt. Chips Dubbo! And I really hope he's in Halo 4.

I really like the Arbiter's story. He just seems the the coolest and most interesting character to me.

If you're passionate about the thing you're talking about, I'll always lend an ear.

Kurt.

Ghost Of Onyx really did wonders for character development for this particular Spartan and the character quickly became my favorite by the end of the novel.

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

Probably Tom, Beta Company Spartan III.

Either him, Will, Gage, Major Faison or Buck.

Can't really decide.

I think Halo is a pretty cool guy. Eh kills aleins and doesnt afraid of anything.

  • 07.17.2012 2:14 PM PDT

Chief. There is no franchise without him.

  • 07.17.2012 2:30 PM PDT

I'd have to say the Master Chief that is portrayed in the novels. He's a much deeper character in the books. I like how war is almost like a game to him. I can also relate to him because I play like he acts in the books. I do stupid stuff and somehow come out on top. lol

“I didn't want to wake up. I was having a much better time asleep. And that's really sad. It was almost like a reverse nightmare, like when you wake up from a nightmare you're so relieved. I woke up into a nightmare.”

Jorge.

Out of every character ever introduced, Jorge felt the most alive. He out of every character actually showed what a real hero is. He gave hope, he re-assured those around him. Like on Winter Contingency, the girl(I forgot her name) she had just encountered Covenant, her father had been murdered in front of her by a Sanghelli that towered over her.

Next thing a group of huge creatures in suits come in with guns. She must have been in shock. But one of those creatures talked to her, took his helmet off and socialized with her, re-assured her that everything was okay. He did what a hero does, he re-assured her.

I think Bungie did really good with Halo:Reach's campaign, albeit they did screw up cannon. I buy Halo for the story, I think the ones that best told a story were Halo Reach, then ODST, and then Halo 2.

Master Chief. Like me he's quiet, often times over-the-top seriousness (save with close friends and family), keep my promises. Never quit even if I lose. I've also found myself in more than one NDE and here I am still kickin'.
