Wow this poll is such a good idea, I can't believe that nobody else thought of this.

Oh wait, there has ALREADY BEEN THIS EXACT SAME POLL, A MONTH AGO!

I dont believe how many times i have said this, it wont work. For example with the sword, if you were to lunge downwards, you would die in mid air due to the mechnics of fall damage. Fall damage also makes the gameplay much slower, so it isnt as fast-paced. Instead of simply just jumping down or something, you would have to go COMPLETLY around, or get lucky and crouch at a perfect time

that means no more superjumping and other stuff, and also some sword canceling. So it would bascially take away glitches if there was fall damage.

are you suggesting that falling from 100 ft shouldnt do anythign to MC? well im going to start a new poll: should bullets do damage to MC in halo3?

taking out fall damage was lame. i want it back. sure there were problems with it in halo2 that were unforseen, but it can be easily remedied in halo3. thats right, its a whole new game, so using the same excuse as before doesnt work. bring it back!

Quae caret ora cruore nostro?
P.S. I love you.

Why do you wont it? The game is about fighting others not being killed by falling off a ledge. Also lood at the movie in halo 2 with the bomb. In it the Chief hits that ship pritty hard. Should he survive stuff like that but be killed by jumping off of the wall on zanzibar?

Oh so you think the fact that they couldn't be bothered to fix the sword mechanics in Halo 2 means they can't have fall damage in Halo 3? Wrong!
And I can't believe this bit.... 'get lucky and crouch at a perfect time'... haha, it's not luck, it's judgement.
I'm not hugely bothered about realism in the game but it would bring back a nice tactical element that was missing.

There is nothing tactical in dieing. Fall damage would only limit the routes you could take, the variaty, the amount of different tactics you could use to get from one place to the other.

The tactical part lies in NOT dying, just in case that isn't blindingly obvious. By not 'limiting the routes you take' you actually mean 'jump like a lemming off anything with no consequence'. Tactics refers to having to make a choice, not being able to do just anything.
Not that fall damage necessarily equates to instant death anyway, just some shield damage. Will you take the short jump which will take a little longer to get to that power weapon, or will you make the long jump which will cost you some shield but will get you there quicker? Having to make those choices brings back a tactical element to the routes you take.

You face an opponent who has never known defeat, who laughs in foreign tongues at your efforts to survive. This is Reply suicide.

Fall damage worked for Halo 1. It does NOT work for Halo 2. The gameplay just simply doesn't allow it.

And if you want to experience "fall damage" in the game, go to the MP map "Relic". Now try to swim.

You'll see that you can't swim around the island, under the water (to get a drop on snipers or even EVADE sniper fire) in this manner... All because fall damage exists.

Would it be good for Halo 3?

It depends on how they make the game, honestly. The only way I want fall damage BACK is if they put the health meter back in. If it's not in... I don't want fall damage. Not at ALL.

And yes, having it in the game limited what you did and what routes you could take. You had to carefully maneuver in most maps so that you wouldn't fall down and die. You had to figure out the best way off of a ledge instead of just bailing off and getting behind cover. I ended up getting sniped a LOT because I was looking for good places to get down in Sidewinder. I don't want those experiences back.
