The purpose of the Halo Rings is to kill all sentient life in the galaxy. Why
bother, trying to kill the flood if you are all dead from the ring explosions
anyway. It would be more useful to fight the flood and try to kill them even
though it is hard, than to just blow your selves up in a suicidal fashion.

Perhaps the Ark was a safe Haven?

Hopefully Bungie will clarify this in thier next game.

If any of you theorist have any ideas then please explain to me.

personnaly, its one way to end the game....and it solves the flood problem, and evolution will happen again lie it did before. but the flood did survive, so i really dont know about that one.

Well, the forerunners were a cult and decided to have a mass suicide.

Would you rather fight and lose, letting your enimie win. or would you rather die taking all of them with you..?

The rings were meant to kill there creators and there creators enimes.

This world is too complicated to have evolved. How can you say
that all the planets and stars came from nothing.
And what about the DNA code. IT is 100 more times complex than
the coding from Halo 2, and nobody in their right mind would say
its Possible for Halo 2 to just create itsself out of thin air
over "billions of years". Think about it.

The rings were a weapon of last resort. I think the Forerunners had a long and bloody war with the Flood, and when they were about to lose, the flipped the switch.

They could have been thinking about other galaxies.

If the flood survived over the 100,000 years in between the last firing and the discovery of Installation 04, what was the cause of this?

Does anyone have an inkling that there is more to Halo than meets the eye? Is it possible that these characters could be lying/rampant?

Cortana (Rampant or corrupted by Gravemind?)
Gravemind (Enemy.)
343 Guilty Spark (honestly, he sputters how much of a genious he is.)

A lot is unexplained over the 100,000 years.

The forruner knew they would lose to the flood and all die out anyways, it was a lose lose situation, but they knew that by killing off all life int he galaxy, the flood would starve and life would start anew. But history has a way of repeating itself.

"Were it so easy?"

Still waiting for the day to see Ling Ling's head.

Im scared.

remember GunShark during halo1 cortana said that the covenant release the flood from imprisoned deep freezing on intsallation 04 the forerunners could keep it like thatso they can find a solution but didnt find any so they keep them in containment that is why 343 guilty spark keep barking that the containment protocalls have been breached. everything was fine until they did that. the covenant was forced to retreat the from some of the forrunner research areas little that they knew that the flood would have enough pesonal and the strengh to overthrow a whole cruiser.

I believe the gravemind was that thing that devoured captian keys and it keep growing and
gained alot of intelligents at the same time believe it or not the flood has a very high intelligents and found a way to get to halo2 installation 06 I also believe that the Forerunner might of been capable of freezing the gravemind too.
Remember the spec op commander elite said he smelled this scent before he must of been one of the team members who survived the whole thing.

I know that much.

True enough, but we're talking about a game. If bungie wanted to make evolution a fact instead of a theory then they can...infact if they wanted to put purple circus midgets in it they could, its fictional game.
