You don't need a patent on an Idea. It's called intellectual property.

So if i say i'd want to make a game where little girls run around and you can shoot them all, and somone made that game, i could so him/her? Are you serious?

Err no, since that game has been made.

You would need a concept map for the game to become your intellectual property. Obviously there is some things that can't be yours, like words.
..Actually, words can be stolen in a sense. I mean, just take a look at book plagiarism.

you can't stop a person from using a word, you can stop them from taking your idea though.

speaking of plagiarism of sorts a book was recently published where the author used a exact replicate of the Halo 2 Battle Rifle. They are being contacted by bungie. The topic was posted on the Underground forum yesterday but has since been deleted...or I just couldn't find it. This shows that bungie is serious about plagerism and copyrights and they will follow and abide by the law.

I know what group that's from. I don't see why you have so much against it (I'm not reading this entire thread, too boring).

Bungie dosnt accept you ideas, nor do they care about them , plain and simple. No reason to be in any group that lies and says bungie does use your ideas. I personally hate liers and could never be in a group like that!

Bungie does what is best for there game.

Listening to the forum goers is NOT the best thing for any game.

the HaloVerse(i think thats how you spell it) will not accept fan ideas for there new game, so I wouldn't count on it.

I know, but say, for example, you describe a waterfall in your book. Then you get it published. Then another guy describes a waterfall the exact same way you did, except he puts the description in his book. That is plagiarism of words.

Alright, ya I see what you mean.

I thought you meant just 1 word.

Err no, since that game has been made.

Help a brother out. Click on the referral link, sign up for a fun game, log in once for the next couple of days, then you never have to think about it again!

And yes. I understand how pathetic that is, but nobody reads these things anyway... right?

Posted by: Guardian Hunter
I understand what your saying but there is a clear line between playlist updates and including a new weapon in the game that a fan made. All the things you listed were indeed fan-suggested--except stopping modding..thats kinda obvious. But playlist updates and changing maps on xbox live is not the same as releasing a product with fan-ideas in it. Playlist updates are all done through bungie on there computers are the actaul thing is filtered down to everyone via xbox live which is a medium. The actaul idea never leaves bungie you just received it through xbox live. Its kind of a hard concept and I don't think I illustrated it well but that is the idea.

Thank you, Guardian Hunter, for helping me check off being a Lawyer from my "Possible Future Proffesions" list. (No offence intended).

I've seen this problem come up before, more specifically with Myspace. I've read plenty of posts from outraged people who just realized that by posting anything of theirs on myspace, they forfeit legal rights to them. I'm pretty sure this would apply to bungie.net also.

No, Intellectual propery expands to any medium, including Myspace.

there ideas may have been vague like saying you want a game that makes someone run.

Bungie is also a Medium.

also.

Its a thankless job but somebody has to do it. The entire internet in the North America, Australia, and Europe follows pretty much the same internet policies. Australia is the most strict though.

I'm saying that group your in is lying to all its members. They are promising by that they can get your ideas into Halo 3 or even to be heard by bungie when in fact they have no connect to bungie and bungie does not accept ideas from fans due to copyright reasons and other legal reasons.

they have not connect to bungie?? im sorry i dont speak bull-blam!-. i need a -blam!- translator. great -blam!- english buddy
