I need to get more definition on my middle and lower abs.
Any advice?

Certainly :)

Visible abdominals require fat loss just as much as muscle definition. I'm assuming you are already in good health and fat loss isn't an issue for you.

- Hanging leg raises
- Planks
- Leg lifts
- V ups
- Leg throws (w/ partner) (Throw to the side too)
- Bicycle kick
- Twisting Windmills
- Crunches/ sit ups/ etc

Great exercises for lower back and legs.

Not so much abdominals, though.

Although I have quit losing weight in the past, its because I never had access to a gym so I can never shed weight at a fast rate :/ Also the diet.

Actually, the rectus abdominis involvement is greater with the squat and deadlift. The abdominals must statically contract shorter and shorter approaching maximal loads. Furthermore, static abdominal strengthening exercises teach proper neuromuscular biomechanics; they teach you to maintain a safe back position and activate the appropriate propioceptors to do that.

TL;DR your core is what stops you from faceplanting the floor at the bottom of your squat

Thank you for reinforcing my argument.

And was that really too long to read?

Too many technical words. I understood it all, but others probably won't.

If your complaint wasn't "TL;DR", why post it?

In regards to my nomenclature, my post directed towards someone I expected to understand it.

I didn't post it like "TL;DR lol", I meant it as an explanation to people that won't understand

Nice triple post, btw

My phone is big on resending scripts.

I just told you who the post was directed to. That is why is was so technical.

And I gave a simplified version for people that may still be interested in what you said, but don't have the biomechanical knowledge that we do

She walks around and makes beaver noises.
What sound does a beaver make?
Wait...it's not a beaver. It's an otter noise.

Anything on the art of running?

Isn't this true for almost every lift? You pretty much use your core to stabilize yourself in, well, everything from squats and deadlifts to lunges and bent over row.

moreso in squats and deadlifts because of the amount of weight you can move

So you went to the trouble of clicking on my profile, either to send a group invite or hate message, or to check my Halo stats and call me a BK. I like Peanut Butter Waffles.

I usually eat after I work out. It seems to be working fine, but would it be better to eat before?

As an experienced cross country runner, you can ask me anything if you need help with running.

You should certainly eat before you work out, but not immediately before. I like eating 1-2 hours before I exercise, and then gulping down my protein shake + some tuna immediately after I finish for protein.

I would eat a protein bar or something around an hour before a cross country run

Crap lol, major fail on my part in my post. I meant I usually work out after I eat.
