I try to do stuff like this, but I can't go to a gym most of the time, so it makes it a little difficult.
You could try something like px90 or Insanity, they're excellent workouts for people that have minimal equipment.

You can do brilliant workouts with NO equipment and spending NO money on those p90x and insanity stuff. You just have to look and research. Figure stuff out, save your money.

Of course I am not talking about building huge muscles.
Implying anyone actually buys that stuff, and doesn't just torrent it.

Lol. Didn't think of that. I do however know tons of people who actually buy that stuff, they're just wasting their money.
In my opinion, it is better to stick to your on program and see what works for you and stuff like that.

EDIT: I think the P90x is good because it is simple and encourages people to exercise, which is very good.

I have a few problems though. It can be limited, it doesn't move with you as much as yourself as you become bigger, stronger and faster.

Step 1: Turn on treadmill.
Step 2: Start running.

Well yeah, if you want to be a skinny guy that can run a great distance. Running never built nobody no muscle. Sprinting, maybe. But not distance running

No dietary tips. No weight training. To call your little guide incomplete would be something of an understatement.

Hey OP, I just want to know if my workout is good:

A Day

Squats 5x5
Deadlift 1X5
Overhead Press 5x5

B Day

Squats 5x5
Benchpress 5x5
Barbell rows 5x5

Basically I go to the gym ever other day, and alternate between A and B day. I add 5 pounds every time I go. On the days I don't run, I run.

I do 500 crunches every day and 100 push ups.

With people who read this, either they are already working out (like me) or they make up reasons why they can't or why they don't need it (or can't be bothered).

OP (or anyone), what excercises would you recommend for someone who doesn't have access to a gym or equipment? Basically all I could use is a pull up bar.

Great thread BTW. Saved it.

Body-weight exercises are your friend. I just woke up and I have to go to work, but here are some exercises off the top of my head. I'll type up a longer, in-depth post when I get back from work.

Lunges and Step-ups for your legs, Push-ups for your chest, Bench-Dips for your triceps, pull-ups and chin-ups for your back. There are also a million different body weight exercises for your abs such as Russian twists, crunches, planks, and V-ups.

I agree that all presidents should serve 2 terms. 1 in office and 1 in prison

Ghetto subscribed, very informative. Once I finally force my lazy ass to the gym I'll be looking over this.

nice thread OP. I was wondering why you didn't include dead lifts though? It may be the single greatest back workout you can do. It works legs, every muscle in your back, including traps, forearms and biceps. It has to be done properly, but it's amazing. Otherwise, excellent and informative post.

proper deadlift

If you're just looking for strength that's a decent program. It's not the greatest program for having a balanced, muscular body though. You will definitely see some strength gains and some mass gains assuming you're also eating right, but this program kind of neglects arms, upper back and calves. It is a great program for starting out though, just to get a little size and strength right away before moving onto something more complex.

Also I wouldn't bother with the 500 crunches everyday. If you want to work your core then add some more resistance so that it doesn't basically become a cardio workout. Add some different core workouts in there too, crunches don't target the whole thing.
