I would highly suggest you join the Health & Fitness group; they can help you personalize your routine.
disclaimer: alot of rap haters in this group

Whenever you grip a dumbbell or bar, you engage your forearms. You can certainly exercise your forearms if you wish, but it's not crucial for a full body beginner workout.

I've got my workout all sorted thanks to a very nice gym instructor so now I just need my diet to be properly organised.

I basically need 100-130g of protein a day so I'm thinking of finding some high protein snack foods to have at work, any suggestions?

If you don't mind the high salt content, beef jerky is a convenient source of protein. So are Almonds. You should also pack yourself a chicken sandwich for lunch.

Also, canned tuna is, IMO, the best. 40g of protein in one of those small little cans. Just open the can, put the tuna in a bowl, and mix a bit of mayo with the tuna. It's super convenient.

Well I often have tuna sammiches for lunch so that's great

Why is only weight lifting classified as "working out"?

  • 08.08.2012 3:55 PM PDT

I'm swole

Please stop complaining about the 'death of a loved one' it's my job. They probably deserved it anyways. Here's a warning, if you keep making pentagrams out of the neighbors livestock I will personally come to your house and kill everyone you love. Now leave me alone, I got to get back to work.

Because one generalization can apply to millions of different body types, right?

Maybe take it easy on the cardio if your goal is to build muscle and gain weight.

I didn't read it all, but from the bits I looked over, is this only about lifting? Because I work out, but I rarely lift just because it's so boring.

No

Lots of slow reps to allow for more muscle tearing due to prolonged strain and thus more rebuilding.

But do you even lift?

Yes, this thread is mainly about lifting weights. You really should consider doing it; I would hardly call it "boring," especially if you have a good workout playlist going on your iPod. You feel like a superhero.

Who the hell do you think I am?

How do you think bicycling compares to running as a work out?

I've had people tell me that they're both the same, but some people tell me that running is better. I usually ride my bike for 40 minutes a day, 10 miles. I haven't been doing that much the past couple weeks due to weather and just stuff going on, but still.

Depends; street biking or mountain biking?
I think mountain biking is one the best total body workouts possible.

I can see you either worked really hard to put this thread together or just copy pasted it. Either way, care to give me some motivations to actually start working out? I know google and all that but just help out a homie here.

I used to be indecisive, but now i'm not sure.

You'll feel better, look better and just improve overall. It helps with motivation and gives you a feeling of accomplishment when you finish a session.

Just do it man, go to a gym and ask an instructor for advice on a routine and go for it.

There's a section on why you should start lifting.

Is the money worth it? I really am interested but want to know if the money and time are worth it.

Road biking.

Not the same, but have you ever done spinning?
