Does anyone think that the very ideal of the Master Chief, a character that we have been with through the trilogy and experienced his story, dying is a bad ending for the trilogy?

Isn't it hypocritical in a certain fashion, because we have banged our heads against the TVs on Legendary watching the Chief fall, only to have his fate ultimately be death? Would the same principle apply to the former Arbiter, given his story content?

I personally think a plausible way to end it would be to develop the Chief from a poster boy for the war effort to the governor of Earth. If Earth's defensive forces, including the Admiralty, are gone, the Chief would be the highest ranking member of the UNSC Navy.

Can anyone think of other good scenarios or answers to these questions?

He might die... he might not. Arbiter will die, I'm sure of it.

I think that in the end will be this scene.

MC and Arbiter are in a room. They need to blow up the Ark but they can't do it remotely.

MC: Are you sure this is the right way?

A: We shall see.

And with that they both explode.

The Chief is a total bad-ass, but it would be kinda lame for a game like Halo to end with happily ever after. He may play the martyr and sacrifice himself to save Earth. I think it's a high possibility that the Chief will die, but I really don't think the Arbiter will go.

Hm....
well Bungie has already denounced the happily ever after ending: http://www.bungie.net/News/Story.aspx?cid=8338//link

And Cortana says the world will end with a BANG ( cortana letters )
Read the first letter and the explanation below it.

So i definitely think he might die.

Nothing personal...

I think that Bungie will put the Master Chief through many close calls, and as we're playing, we'll think that he's done for- And he'll have something funny to say as his hand emerges on a cliffside.

Quite frankly, I think Bungie will surprise us all by doing something no one expects. I mean honestly, if every thread is about the MC and the Arbiter dying, don't you think Bungie would want to surprise us and do something else?

Indeed. I think that Bungie will suprise us as to what Master Chief's/the Arbiter's fate will be at the end of Halo 3.
