I personaly think the Xbox version is better than the PC version. And is how Halo was truly meant to play. It wasnt as great on the PC because i honestly think there are better PC FPS out there. And thats because they were designed for that platform with only it in mind. I would also like to add that i think porting over to PC was a huge mistake, they should of kept it Xbox only like they said they were gonna. Anyways here are my reasons for liking the Xbox version more...
1: It was far more revolutionary especialy as far as Console FPS go. On the PC some of the things had allready been done before and the impact it had on the PC world wasnt as big as it was in the Console world....IMO. The biggest thing they brought to Consoles was LAN, i cant tell you how awesome it was to finaly get to play with more than 4 people in a game. Not only that but you could put two teams on two seperate TVs. They mastered the whole CO-OP part of the game and made it essential to modern FPSs.
Vehicles. while they were in other FPS before Halo, they werent on consoles, at least not in any of the ones i played. they also made them simple and very effective, but not without a weakness. I can go on and on, but really it was far more revolutionary for the Console Vs the PC.
2: Graphics: They dont look better to me hardly at all. The only real difference i noticed was the wind sheild on the warthog was a little bit more shiny..big whoop. And to get the graphics to its max you would have to shell out way more money than you would have to for an Xbox.
3: I feel as tho Halo controls better on the xbox, once again this was its original element and puting it onto a PC made it feel very awkward. I played it at a LAN party a few times and i couldnt remember all the buttons (i didnt really have time to reset them because my buds were yelling at me to hurry up). And the whole thing about not having enough buttons on a console controler is a joke. Unlike a lot of people who complain about console controllers, i have skill and am able to play FPS on any platform with some getting used to the game (cuz each game is different). It works fine for me and i feel that i could keep up with any PC gamer using my Xbox controler if they could mix.
4: Extra maps, i honestly could care less about them, because by the time the PC version came out I was playing other games and occasionaly setup a LAN party with my buds for Halo. We would play for literaly 10 hours or more on those days and we dont get tired of the maps. While the extra ones would be cool to have they dont warrant the extra money it costs for me to buy it.
5: Multiplayer. I honestly like playing team games on some big TVs over a LAN connection better on the Xbox than having to link up a bunch of PCs. trying to find a decent server online, that can be a pain, most servers i joined i had issues with lag, and its not me, my connection is great. Plus if you have some buddys who dont have a PC or are poor and cant afford the game/PC it takes to play it, they can allways use a controller and jump on the TV and whoop some butt with you.
6: I got to play hundreds of multiplayer matches and beat the game several times LONG before the PC version came out....so take that !
Anyways those are just my thoughts. my PC is good enough to run the games i like, so thats all i care about. And would also like to note that i hope they dont release Halo 2 for PC, it would just tarnish its legacy (by taking it out of its element). And maybe rather than shelling out a little dough for that extra stick of RAM, maybe you'll buy a Xbox instead... : )
