Heyyo,

I like PS2, it's a nice console, good variety of games, and they know that FPS belong on pc, that's why you don't see many FPS on PS2. They know to focus on other games like the FInal Fantasy series, which are great. Fable, xbox's response, is said to be "too short, beatable in 8hrs." I mean, a good RPG has to take quite some time to beat. FFXI (Online) is a great MMORPG cause no one knows for sure how long it takes, cause it takes forever. Since PS2 has free online play (So did Sega's Dreamcast. 1st console with online play btw.. onna 56K!!! w0000tt!!! lmao!)

One game I loved on PS2 was Tekken Tag Tournament. That Dead Or Alive game for xbox is ok. I loved that drunken fighter dude, that guy was sweet, but other than him? meh. On Tekken I used a lot of guys, of course my fav was Eddie cause he's a breakdance fighter. Lol, like on Zoolander. "They're breakdance fighting!!!" =D

So yeah, don't diss PS2 cause you think xbox is the only gaming system out there, cause it's not, and the other ones are nice. (Havn't tried gamecube, cause it seems to be mainly teen/kid focused..)

My own 2 cents:

Anybody that knows halo's history would recall that it premiered on comparitively low-end Macintoshes back in 1999. The graphics weren't as good then as they are now, but they were far ahead of their time and running on hardware exponentially slower than anything current.

The bottom line: Halo PC is a -blam!- port. I've played the thing on lighting fast computers on a LAN with 5 ping and it still lagged. Even with a solid DSL connection to a fast server I have to aim ahead of where my target is. Inexcusable. Certainly incomparable to the refined netcode of the Quake 3 or Half-Life engines.

Halo Mac was a -blam!- port of a -blam!- port. I've got a G5 with a Radeon 9600 and I have to turn most of the graphics to get a usable frame rate. WTF?!

I can only pray that if they make a Halo 2 for Mac/PC that they DON'T get gearbox to do it.

Now having said that, yes multiplayer for Halo PC/Mac is still fun. Loads of fun. As long as I can find a fast server, it's a blast. But for LAN play X-Box wins.

And I've played this game on both platforms and enjoy both.

Heyyo,

Hmm, I would've imagined the Mac port to be better cause Halo was first designed for the mac... lame that that port also fell thru... :(

Well, Gearbox is a good company, but yeah, they diddn't put enough time into HaloPC, I would've been ok waiting a few more months for a better running port of Halo for computers. I'm sure most of you other computer gamers are with me on that.

But dude, thanks to Skippy pointing it out, there's a Halo-UT2k4 mod being made! it looks sweet! and UT2k4 has better graphics, and ran a hellova lot better than HaloPC, so this will be our answer to bad HaloPC preformance! and you can play as any character, even the little flood guys! w00t! =D

erm if you don't have broadband then a ping of 2000 isn't suprising. 56K modems are simply too slow for games with up to 16 other people in them. You could try setting your connection in Halo to a broadband speed, see what happens... Hope to see you online dude.

You....really need to try dial up :p
I got....150-250 ping on ce servers and 200-300 for pc...

PC games arent as good as console games in my opinion. The controlls are easier on consoles and there is no installing, and no inturuptions.

THAT is a very good point, you cannot judge a game for a PC unless you have STATE OF THE ART TECHNOLOGY, which everyone should DEFINATELY HAVE, CHEAPOS!!!!!![/sarcasm]
[real]so pretty much, its a good point, it really was designed to last for years by being state of the art, but to tell the truth, someone would rather buy a 150 dollar xbox than go out and spend 5 thousand dollars to get the perfect PC, sorry, but its not gonna ever be a good idea to buy something with such high requirements, when you can get the perfect requirements for cheaper.

Heyyo,

Of course console games are easier, that's beside the point. Anyone with a half decent brain can play games onna console. But for a PC? sure you can play em', but to be good you have to actually have lightning fast reflexes and crazy skills.

Err... no interruptions? then what about those long loading times? heh, no interruptions my ass. I'd rather wait 10 mins installing HaloPC then wait 20 seconds for a level to load on xbox which would eventually waste more than 10 minutes after only like, 60 map changes.

Like, if I plugged my mouse n' keyboard into an xbox, you guys wouldn't stand a chance. My higher speeds n' percision would kick the living $hit out of you game pad suckers. I should buy one, n' make my friends with their xbox Halo's twist on the floor in agony.

http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=83&products_id= 5438&

Feel the superiority of mouse n' keyboard for FPS.

Well, I'm thru with all this bickering with you xbox-flamers for today, its a holiday, so happy halloween everyone, n' party on guys.

xbox's have little adjustment room. Pc's, that is if one has a good one like mine, have huge adjustment abilities.

It only takes five or less seconds for a MP map to load on the XBOX. All you have to do is press A a couple of times while it's loading, then it will load a hundred percent faster.

if i may give my own 2 cents, many of u have said that the pc version is better if u just run it off a high end computer but in my opinion that is stupid because the supposedly " equal if not better " pc version is limited to people with fast computers but anyone with an xbox can enjoy the greatnes of halo.
but thats just me.

Your method of comparison is no different from "people who don't have blonde hair and blue eyes are not human being at all." Either you're narrowminded guy or you flunk your english.

Heyyo,

*Sighs* At this rate? I'm just gonna make a page discussing xbox and pc games, so whenever people bring up the same point? I'll just link, n' save myself the trouble of explainin' the same stuff to each xbox-flamer.

What happens is that the HaloPC port isin't complete. It's good enough for release, but not complete. The optimizations are one of the main examples of why HaloPC ain't complete. Another one is the shield colorations of the Jackals and Stationary sheilds. There are other examples of how the game's not done, but I'm too lazy to continue listing them all.

Hey skip, let's try to get this thread closed... *clears throat* HALF - LIFE 2 RULEZ!!!! =D

lmao...

Reason why it only takes seconds for the MP map to load on your Xbox is, you have don't anybody to play with except your one friend and he knows where you are. Scary isn't it. Too bad in the real world, people don't have split screen vision to see where the snipers are. Other then that, MP on Xbox blows, coop okay there.

How do you get Halo PC is vehicular based? its basicaly the same as the Xbox game cept more weapons and vehicals but you only see them in multiplayer if you play the campaign mode its the same game as the Xbox version but with better graphics and more movement options.

lol, i'm sorry. I read the first 2 pages of this thread and fell over laughing. What a bunch of idiots trying to force their opinions on other idiots, who in turn are trying to force theirs on others. It's all a matter of prefrence. I prefer the xbox because i find the controls easier to use. Doesn't particularly mean that I don't do well online with the PC. My graphics card, Geforce 5900, does the job for my machine. I can play with full settings no bother, even with a AMD 2400 XP+. Some of use prefer the xbox because it feels comfortable. Its sad to see fellow gamers squabble and divide themselves over the same game.

That's like saying Xbox Halo is limited to people who can afford Xboxes. It has nothing to do with the comparason of the game(s). If Halo PC is better on a fast computer then that's fine, you can't say "No it isn't because you need a fast computer". If that was your argument then you could say Xbox Halo is crap because you need an Xbox to run it. It's totally besides the point whether or not you can afford the system that you choose to run Halo on. That's like saying walking is better than driving a Ferrari because it's cheaper.

But anyway, guys, why has this ancient thread come up again? Last time I checked it was on like page 5 of this forum. Are people really that keen to argue? Much as I am proud to have started the thread with possibly the highest number of replies, most if not all of it is repetition, or mindless flaming. Like the guy who posted above this. Two of his four-words' speach were censored, for goodness' sake. We don't even know which opinion that was aimed at. Oh well maybe he's not too bright. But seriously, unless you have something NEW to add to this thread, there's not much point saying what been said a hundred (or more) times before.

Halo should be played on XBOX. I've played it on my PC (3.2ghz,1GB, 9800 XT) and even though it's better looking it's just no the same thing. I can't explain why but sitting in the sofa playing Halo on TV is a far greater experience than playing it on PC.

Co-Op in Halo is great. I still play through Halo with a friend from time to time. You can't do this on PC. In Sweden we have a saying "Shared happiness is double happiness." You could argue that you can play Halo PC online but it's not the same as playing through the campaign, saving the world with one of your friends.

Heyyo,

I also agree, coop is great, and that's why me buds love games like HL1 with SvenCoop, Serious Sam Series, Rune, Doom: Remake (w00t! LMAO!), Far Cry Coop, and Doom3 Coop.

I'm gonna dl HEK tntie n' test my luck, I'm gonna try to convert some SP maps to MP slayer, but leave the bots in so it's like coop, a really cheap version of coop, but coop none the less... I'll keep you updated on any actual progess I might make... I hope it's not beyond my current modding knolege, but I bet it is. :P

Regretless of what you say Halo "should" and not, it is your perferences on where to play the game.
