Subject: Bungie officials/Moderators, I need your help

I've always been led to belive that everything within your post is held to be your post, and hence I'm reasonably sure I've seen folk banned for quoting naughty links, or at the very least had their posts edited out as they are breaking rules.

Halo: CE Anniversary Achievement Idea
C-C-C-CANNON BREAKER!
Let Sgt. Johnson die on Halo.

That warning seemed pretty reasonable to me. The blam filter helps prevent the user from discerning what the original profanity was. If you include the first letter of the word, that's pretty much just as bad as saying it.

Generally, if you are responding to something someone says it doesn't matter. For example, what I just did.

If you're using quoting a malicious link, shock site, or ect, that is an entirely different matter.

People who do it out of not knowing better just get their post edited. People who are doing it to perpetuate or encourage the bad behavior are subject to bans.

Some examples,

Don't click! Bad things there!

This won't get the person into any trouble, typically.

This has always been my approach to this. It may not be how the other ninjas view it.

Actually, I did get a moderator warning for doing this once. It was before Reach's release, and it was a link to a spoiler site. I had quoted it to say "Do not click! It's a spoiler!" I stupidly forgot to disable the clickable URL in my quote. Sure enough, ten minutes later, my post was edited, and I got a moderator warning for quoting a malicious link.

Oh well, lesson learned I suppose.

That is where the "typically" comes in.

Ban history factors into the decision a lot. Yours wasn't the best, that is maybe why you got the warning. It wasn't me so I can't say for sure.

You have been pristine since then, BTW. Good job.

the only problem i have with mine is that it's unstable,[very shakey],so you'd need a tripod for it.

Just drink a beer and everything will be ok

Well, this has certainly been entertaining and informative. I think I'll save it for future reference. Good to know what makes a mod tick and to have backup in any other rule discussions.

Indeed, thanks for the education Bobcast.

Error 404:

I have a feeling you did this for attention. On Bnet, even if the non-intelligent don't see through it, they will start casting fireballs.
