There's no formal unit of measurement since everything contained within the game is inert in terms of the general relativity between various objects. So everything would then needed to be addressed in 'units' based on a definable 'unit' of measurement.
The Height of a spartan = X
Time it takes for a spartan to walk the distance of X = Y
Divide the overall time it takes for a spartan to go from point A to point B... and divide it by Y.
Ascribe X with a determined value.
And you'll have the answer.
This game does have a button combo that displays the map coordinates (in a local or system link game, hold swap grenades + reload + Zoom + up on dPad, for a few seconds), just turn it on and stand at either side, write down the X/Y values for both positions and calculate the difference.
...oddly enough, from the end of hemorrhage to the edge of the pillar, I'm getting approx. 461.5 Units, or 1.17 kilometers. That has to be a coincidence. (They use units of 100 inches, 3ds max documentation for h2 vista that's held up compared to spartan height and moving objects in-game for h3 and Reach).
