the halo games are great but who realistick are they? I am a Nordic Arktic Reconesens Soldier ( Försvarsutb UG-61 GK) (dont think i spelled that right) and i happen to play halo, of coarse it's fun but you can't help but think that there were things that Bungie really could have done better in bouth the formal condukt of the AIs and the way difent weapons behave and the way the marines behave in combat... now none of us are allowed to post any millitary tacktiks of coarse for good reasons, but all of know how to engage an enemy and i'm sure that ALL of us will have similar (or the same) opinon when it comes to how the marines behave.
Any way just lay out some thoughts of what you think about the game in comparisin to real life...
AND NO PEOPLE PRETENDING TO BE SOMETHING THERE NOT PLEASE!!!!
your also welcome to stae your name, rank, country and so on

Halo is science fiction, not something from Tom Clancy.

In real life the idea of casualtys in war is very bad for America and Europe so we enter war with the idea of any loss is attrocious.Compare this to the first world war when (unlike Iraq) men knew they were gonna die and just charged valiantly into no mans land. The Halo games are kinda action packed and the idea of your marines waiting in position until the perfect situation to launch an offensive arrises does not make a good video game.

Also 1 guy once said (i cant remember who) 1 mans death is a travesty , a 1000 deaths is a statistic

Go to your room!

...Well I'm glad that worked, because those would have been terrible last words.

I'm sorry, I must have stumbled on the Ghost Recon forums by mistake.

Oh no, wait. I didn't.

The good thing about halo was it was a pick up and play fantasy. I find military games like ghost recon and such like fairly dull.

A friend of mine is currently doing service up in... er... wherever... flygbassäk or something I think, and his father used to be one of Sweden's most respected soldiers back ages ago. He sure isn't complaining. Because fantasy is good. Even if it involves the same theme, I'm pretty sure it's a relief for many to be able to sit down and enjoy some relatively mindless fun without having to go through the same ordeal they have to do in real life.

Arctic Reconnaissance, also. At least learn to spell the words right, man!

If Bungie were to make Halo more realistic it would have to come in the form of a different game, or an expanded on-line Halo game with no AI. Just humans fighting each other with the choice of siding with the Covenant or the UNSC.

I did mention once before about an online Halo based game with hordes of Covenant troops against thousands of UNSC marines and ODST's this would be the ideal game to make more realistic with a huge gaming environment, but as for Halo itself, it's just fine the way it is.

Why not? I don't believe that English is the first language in Sweden, perhaps you should take note of that.

I think that this guy is what he says.

But back on topic, it is hard for gamemakers to make a game that is fun and realistic at the same time, because if they made it totally like real life, gamers would be throwing their controlers at the wall because of how hard it is to play. Take even the realistic games, like Tom Clancy, if you take 3 M-60 shots, you are on red, but yet you can still move, fight and, eventually, die. But in Halo, I think that the idea of a sheild is a good thing to have instead of health. It seems realistic because when your sheild is down, you are probably thinking "O, -blam!-!" and running for cover. If you guys have even played team SWAT, I think that is as realistic as it will get, cause I usally get pissed that I die so much in that type of game.

I do mistrust things like this until i have a reason. he is probably truthful. I think Halo 3 needs to be much more realistic, at least as realistic it can get without it being too different.

But when the movie comes, make it as realistic as possible. Marines acting correct, more violence, black hawk down -esk way of filming. Everything they can get. Very detailed things and stuff. So he gets what he wants in movie at leasst.

I can see how it being more realistic would be fun, but the Halo franchise wasn't built on realism. It was built on story and 15 minutes of fun that happened over and over again. I think it is fine the way it is. I make it a challenge to ensure all my squad mates make it through the level. It adds another and harder objective to the game. Although, I agree, how can Marines stand in the open and get hit by a sniper. How come the enemy shoots better, we've been training to....So I hope.

You really F-ed that up.

Not travesty, its TRAGEDY.
Not 1000, its 1,000,000.

Halo is supposed to be science fiction. If I want realism, I'll go play Rainbow Six.

Rainbow six is one sweet game though.....

But I like halo for its fast paced, frenetic action. Not the strategy.

Realistic,Both,Conduct,Different,Tactics,Course( coarse means rough),Comparison,State....And I do believe you mean Artic not Arktic. Brandon Troxell, 2nd Liutenant...lol, i wish.
