Ok, does anyone have a good link to what its going to involve?

Im aware that it links you to friends lists and stuff. But what I would like to know, is is it like (xbox) live?

For example, will there still be feedback for players?

Will there still be cheat tracking, and thus banhammers coming on accounts for those who cheat/abuse etc?

Does live anywhere cost, or is it free like steam?

Once registered, will you be able to download your games if you lose/damage the media (my HL2 dvd went funny, so I downloaded it via steam)?

Theres other questions as well, but I cant remember them at the mo.

Basically its Live 360 on the PC achievements, Friends Lists, Reputation so yes there will be feedback based on your conduct, cheat tracking will probably happen, don't know but my guess is if you are charged around £30 a year same as 360 Yes throught the Marketplace

Ta for that. Apperently (according to iggiv) Frankie said halo 2 pc wont cost anything. I cant find where he said it, but if it is going to have all the features you think it will, I imagine they will charge for it.

Dispite steam not charging anything for their service.

Yeah, knew that, sorry, I didnt post it right.

You do not have to pay to play online on Halo 2 for Windows Vista.

Im sure iggwilv will reply to the other thread when he can.

What makes you think that all these games you name will require live on the PC, I sure as hell arent going to use live on my PC when i can play for free and download demos for free. PC is different than the xbox as it doesnt even require live and vista wont, I am not sure where you are getting that you need live to play games online with the PC.

The update.

You will need live anywhere to play halo2 PC.

And Frankie assures us MP for halo2 will be free. So I imagine live anywhere is a lot like steam.

Matt beat me by 1 min!

Live is a subscription based service but a lot cheaper than your average MMO

But live anywhere?

Frankie himself says there will be no charge to play halo2 online. And Im sure the update said halo2 would use live anywhere (I really cant be assed to read it again).

So, is Frankie getting it wrong, or is live anywhere different to Xbox live, and they dont charge?

Hmmm.

trust me if I have to pay £280 for a 360 and still pay Microsoft will have no qualms about charging £150 for a OS and charging you an extra £30 for online gaming

Yeah, I know you can play Halo2 on xbox (along with others) without getting live, but not for online play. Frankie actually said, there will be no charge for halo2 pc *online* play. And as I said, Im pretty sure I saw that it uses live anywhere.

So its pointing towards not having to pay for live anywhere. I dotn understand it, but Frankie is one of the main bungie people, he wouldnt make that mistake (woe betide him if he did).

So there we have it, halo2 PC is going to be free to play online, unless Frankie was wrong.

Xbox users might be miffed, having paid to play halo2 online, and possibly a few other games due to the need for a live account.

Oh yes, and I also think that not all games will use live anywhere, dispite being on vista. Valve for one, are not just going to give up steam after all they have put into it.

Im not sure what your getting at....unless..

You mean Frankie is taking the piss, and playing sneaky buggers? I.e. they are not charging you to play online, but are charging you for the friends list, etc etc which is builtin and you have to have?

Live anywhere is not going to be the multiplayer code needed to play online. It will be an add on that allows you to have more options and a better community. You won't pay to play these games online, you will pay for an extra service that isn't needed.

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

Live Anywhere is not a PC subscription service. It is an extension of XBOX LIVE onto Vista and Windows Mobile. You will be able to manage your XBOX friends list, your XBOX messages, and other XBOX stuff.

This is why they should just leave live on the Xbox.
