If have a question concerning the gravemind overtaking Cortana.
He is Flesh and blood, made out of organic material, how would
He "pvertake" her, she is a computer. That would be like if I had
a pet octopus that was really smart and he stuck his tentacle into
my imac and started controlling it.

The only Way the gravemind counld possibly take over her would
be if he used another computer, like 2043 penitent tangent or
whatever his name is, but then the quiestion arrises how did he
take over penitent tangent, he is computer based too.

IF Any of you guys have some theories about this please feel freee to post them here.

We have no evidence he has "taken control" of her. None. How do you know she doesn't simply intend to stall in the cutscene at the end of the credits? The face she has on is definately not a friendly one.

Quick as a razor, sharp as a bullet.

that's what i think when people start saying about cortana and 2401!
regret has also not been (fully) assimilated, as he is floodied up just a bit and can still speak.

the flood is a parasite, which infects a host and uses its body to do its bidding. basic flood such as infection forms can only overtake organic material. the gravemind however is many hundreds of thousands of years old and has evolved to the point of where he can essentially do anything he wants, hes like flood god

and the AI that cortana mentions fighting back in the high charity level is the gravemind, not a covenant AI

There is some slight evidence that the gravemind intends to overtake her if you look at the end of the Halo 2 trailer. Also His voice can be heard mixed in with hers in the H3 trailer, so its not unreasonable to assume that he has some control over her.

...only in The Flood

Yeah it's impossible for a living crearure to control a machine! Like duh, as if that could ever happen!

its 2401 Penitent tangent btw just to correct things.
hum about grave, i agree we cant all speculate about how he took over Cortana just because of the trailer but we need to remember that this trailer is all about that: let us think how/why/what happens in halo3. my theory is that the flood can in fact take control of electric systems, thus taking control of Cortana. bulbous disgusting intelligences sticking on the walls do just that. so i guess Gravemind can, in time, get over Cortana systems & disrupt her. wich is very bad.

In one of the levels, Cortana says that she feels a presence in the Covenant networks. Like an AI, but much better than any Covenant ones she's encountered in the past.

This is, ofcourse, Gravemind, which suggests that there's more to him than you think!

i very much agree with you. the convenants AI are too dumb to make Cortana feel about such a presence. it must be something like that.

... or, it's *gasp!* High Charity's AI. Which makes sense, save the best for the Capital, and give the flawed models to the ships, just because they are too imperfect for High Charity, but too useful to simply destroy.

He bought her flowers and told her. "Just stop, you don't look fat in that. Seriously, you look great." Classic control tactic.

Which makes total sense. How on earth did an organic creature evolve a form that infects code?
