Subject: The Market (New Forum)+ New role of the site.

Edit:
So anywayadding and changing the topic a bit, mainly what do you think may be added to this site to add integration to their game. What new pages or ideas will be added. From faction nased groups. Your own characters data with alll his economic and customizarion details to whole new econimies created from ground up with a stock exchanges to economic and military espionag.
So what do you think will be added?

So i was just thinking about the new IP and remembered a tiny thing that was in, which was in game market.

And so i mainly thought if this is an mmo, and like any other mmo, this may have a market. True you could buy new items from the ingame market. But what would actually make the game a little bit more interesting, if it had its own market. Where different things can be traded back and forth.

A forum could help with this quite alot, as people can put advertisements for what they need. Also if this is kind of like eve online. Then we could also put out the idea, of hiring other users to do quests for you, that you are unable to do. Maybe put some money down, and other users can accept and then pass it to you, where you end up giving them their fee for finishing the quest.

Also sales of different items, that other players lack could have their prices fluctuate depending on supply/demand.

All in all for me the idea that there may be an in game market is interesting as it could actually make the game more fun.

Also most people may think this is going to be pay to win. But ever considered that the system could be like that of LoL. Where you can get things via influence points, or riot points.

Riot points which is bought via real money, and everything is cheaper. Or influence point which is through experience and everything is expensive.

Also i wonder if something like the eve markets will be adopted. Or maybe something like runescape as noted below.

On another matter all together anyone considered that the hieroglyphs may also be the key to deciphering the map a bit more.

Subject: The Market (New Forum)

I think this would fit either in The Classifieds or the Destiny game forum (when it is added), so a new forum wouldn't be necessary.

Back in the day, Runescape's forums actually had a pretty decent trading system going on. You could find buyers and sellers easily and determine pick-up points for trades.

Saying that, they then introduced the Grand Exchange, so that player-connection was totally lost, but it became a safer way of doing things. Less scamming, and so on. Still, could be interesting.

Bye.

The quest advertisements is a really good idea. I'd love to see a system like that in place but I can see all markets and adverts being in-game as part of a "store" menu.

I'm not particularly fond of pay-to-win games. Then again, I'm not happy about having to unlock upgrades unless the game is a role-playing game. Having to devote countless hours to unlock features within the game is an artificial way to have people play the game. The amount of time playing a game should reflect a users appreciation for the game, not time spent trying to earn the ability to play it at a non-minimal level.

I would not like a trading forum as I would not like trading.

I do not think its necessarily pay to win. Maybe early access to some new or extra equipments. Though will not affect gameplay, as these new things are just temporarily in few hands before it becomes a common object, though it has weaknesses so as to not change the game as much. Also I wonder if hitman could work. Like stealing different intel from others, via killing other players to steal it.

Still a market like in runescape would add a whole new element into the game. Though the problem would be scammimg.

Though I will add that in game money can also be bought. True it is infair, but the person did invest in the game so deserves something.

No. Once you start down that road it's a slippery slope to buying powerful weapons and buying extra non-expansion content (etc.). Bungie knows they will make a lot of money on this game if it's good; they don't need another zynga-esque revenue stream.

Nope. If its anything like the markets in other mmo's where you can trade stuff with players, the fkrums will be bombarded by people asking for trades, which is why it's own forum is completely reasonable.

This "Market" idea wouldn't work as a forum for the same reason that The Classifieds don't work as a forum: with only 25 threads per page, it's going to be impossible for anyone to see you post as there will be an insane amount of bumping and necrobumping.

Forums are meant for discussion. When you don't have discussion going on in the threads you are creating because they consist of "Selling Rune Scims 4 5000 gp!" which you can't entirely build off of, things will go downhill.

It would work much better if it were based on something other than the forum system we currently use.

Really are you buying weapons or the currency. Also if people buy it and as time goes on, you will notice these weapons shall decrease in price due to in game stock. True some will say its becomming zynga, but has anyone ever considered eve.
It all depends on how it works. Plus its not fixed price but a whole economy in the game, which causes prices to rise and drop. Plus everyone should get the chance to get all the power weapons. Also one can make money via in game wheras others will maybe use money to do so.
Also to call it zynga is laughable at best. Just cause they use does not mean its bad. Its just implemented for money whoring. This coudl though be edited to be a bit like lol. And have the eve like or runescape like market, or stock exchange in it.

That though would require a whole new page for what you are looking for. Maybe not a normal page, but something to narrow down your search, and all recent proposals are showen, while there are icons for those whose transacrions are done and those who have not.

True it will need a different system for it to work. It will not be a normal forum.

Agreed, actually.

An in-game Auction House-type system like in WoW would work loads better (as it has been proven to do so in WoW).

That's why I don't think we'll be seeing the new hawtness for a while. At least until they officially announce it, bring out a teaser, etc. Because they'll be totally changing the site with the next update, there's no doubt about that; but why change all of it format-wise only to change so much more come the announcement and release of Destiny?

Maybe because there will be alot more to add, and huge changes, and for access to such things would require some new formats, to make it easier to access them, and get more on the front page.

The contract doesn't mention an in-game market but there was a job posting for an economy designer on the careers page. Maybe that's where the idea comes from?

"You'll design the systems and mechanics which drive in-game trade, satisfy the players' need for possessions and wealth whilst ensuring rewards retain their intended value."

No, although it spoke of MMO like elements, one of which could very well be an in-game economy. After all, why else would they be hiring economy designers?

There's an economy of sorts in Reach that may have required an economy designer. While I think there may be an in-game marketplace, the posting for a job available for an economy designer doesn't necessarily allude to or lead to any sort of in-game marketplace.
