Yeah. It's old and considered non-canon. You're an Aes Sedai who can barely channel. You spend the game trying to recover the seals that were stolen from the tower. You use Ter'Angreal sort of like missiles/ ammo. They're basically projectiles. Near the end you find out you're actually really powerful and your powers were suppressed for your own protection by the Amyrlin.

... I watched a playthrough.

The Wheel of Time.

Dag, "In 2003, The Wheel of Time was rated #10 on GameSpy's list of the most underrated games of all time."

Well, good job and congratulations, Defnop.

I thought it was one of the better challenges, even though I had no hope of winning the video game segment.

The more random the better!

Next mailsack, make the challenge a Video game tournament. :D

  • 07.20.2012 1:56 PM PDT

Yeah. It was years ago I saw that playthrough... erg. Though...

To be honest it wouldn't have been fair even had I/anybody guessed right. I mean, winning even though I/we stole 14/15ths of the thing from Defnop? That wouldn't be right. So good job Defnop hah.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

When I first read this thread, I thought the challenge would be an 8v8 ride along for the first 15 people who posted.

Wheel of Time was GameSpy's Action game of the year. (Along with a number of other awards).

It had an amazing multiplayer system with 40 offensive and defensive weapons with an elaborate counter system. It also had a CTF variant where you actually set up traps around your base before the round started.

The single player was pretty great too, with fantastic implementations of Shadar Logoth and the Ways.

I love that game, and it became my first toe dipped into game programming when I worked on a mod for it called Shadowed Destiny.

The date that the very last book, #14, comes out for the Wheel of Time series. The final chapter of A Memory of Light. I am so stoked. I just reread book #13 again two weeks ago (took me two whole days- they're long books). I can't wait.

I'm stoked!! I had to reign back on retreading them...was going to finish them way too early.

Edit: also, Sanderson is the man. His writing gets better with every book he does.

My DeviantArt Gallery - For my Photoshop stuff, go have a look!

Awesome mail sack, I never realised artists couldn't work as effectively if the builds weren't working so well.

Not sure if I should be impressed or concerned for employee wellbeing with that much Red Bull.

This is the way the world ends,
This is the way the world ends,
This is the way the world ends;
Not with a bang but a whimper.

Sadly, the only one out of all of those that I got was the Princess Bride. Pretty sure that as easiest too.

Agreed. Robert Jordon was a genius, don't get me wrong. He wrote and developed one of the greatest (and in my opinion THE greatest) fantasy universe ever conceived. But he could spend pages on the color and texture of somebody's scarf. Sanderson has a totally different style. He focuses on the action much more than the details. I love both immensely, but I feel that Sanderson brought new life to the series, and Jordon absolutely picked the right man to take up his mantle.
