If your reading this you are more bored than I am. Well I guess is where I put something here and you are supposed too enjoy it lol. I play 360 not so much of the PS3 but I might get one in the future. I drive a Ford and ride KTM.

I thought it would be awesome if the brought back Forge. I would hope it would be different worlds!!!

It is possible to commit no errors and still lose. That is not a weakness. That is life.

Cheeto is the only one among you that doesn't suck.

My guess is that for the first game (which is supposedly only on 360) there might be a limited editor/creator of sorts.

But I wouldn't expect anything wild or crazy until (if) it goes onto PC.

The supposed scope of the game is just too massive for a forge like editor.

I tend too think of this game too be as large as Battlefield 3 and have smaller levels. I would hope too see it in the upcoming onslaught of Bungie.

It would be unwise to think they'd place something like this in a console game...Grognok is clearly an internal tool used by the environment devs for terrain generation.

Which would allow for planet design (if they dumbed it down and kept the advanced version for themselves). The point is they can give is a water-down version of it and it would still be amazing.

Probably.

We would need to give it time. It took years to do the exact same thing with Forge (quite literally; internal tool turned game feature) and build it into what it is in Reach, and people still have their complaints about Forge 2.0...

I think its save to say that there will be so form of 'Forge' or editing tool. Seeing how successful Forge was in the Halo series, it just makes sense to see them bring it back in future series.

The majority of people who complained about the amazingness that was Forge 2.0 also had the majority of their posts during the :Reach era consist of one word starting with the letter "A". Just sayin'.

Ideals aside, you're probably right. This probably won't make it's way into the first Destiny, nor the first expansion, maybe not even the first sequel, but I do think we will see a (watered-down) Grognok in a Destiny game at some point in time. It's just too amazing to not.

1. Release Destiny
2. Give community a version of grognok
3. Add ability to add user created worlds from Grognok to Destiny
4. ????
5. Overused meme.

Why?

That interface actually looks like it's at a fairly high level of abstraction from what a lower-level terrain generation interface would/could look like, because there doesn't appear to be any functionality for more precise details to be set (which I assume would exist - eg. for scripting and whatnot). I mean look at some of the options: "Create Road", "Create Brush". These are things you could expect the end-users to make use of (and I realise I'm implicitly making some assumptions when I say that).

Or if what you're saying is that that specific tool looks as though it does not belong in a console (eg. because of its interface), then I appeal to what Bungie has done in the past with File Share data - upload files to their servers then output them via a web page. If interoperability is the aim here, I don't see why you couldn't simply download a tool like this to your computer, create a map, upload it to Bungie, then download/play it on your Xbox, PC, Playstation, etc...

I like the way you talk about what you talk about. Interoperability in video games (PC to Game, Game to Tablet, Tablet to PC which then goes to Game, etc.) is used largely in a gimmicky sense and not very practically (in my opinion) in the game market today. If Bungie could find a way to make this work in a way that makes sense and actually encourages people to use those off-console resources, that'd be amazing.

A map creator type program sounds like just the thing, as everyone wants to make maps and stuff. It's human nature to be creative!

A PC-side program with user map uploads is entirely possible, but highly unlikely. It might be possible to have the worlds constructed from one or more types of a universal file type, and have the community make different programs from there; similar to how Minecraft takes a certain size .png for skin texture...and the variety of community-made programs specifically for making Minecraft skins, along with Photoshop and the like. I'd talk about Bungie making some sort of 'shell' program or filetype that users can start with, but that adds even more complexity than there already is!

Now with a program with (seemingly) as much complexity as that screenshot, I think the only way that will work on console is if the UI was redesigned to make better navigation with a controller. Some options and details would need to be randomized or pre-set, for example the elevation map (the "Stamp") that the mountains follow to get their shape, or the shape of different trees.

Isn't their game multi-platform? So I could buy it on PC.

I thought that was always true from the beginning. Didn't they say it was going to be on PC, PS3, and X-Box 360?

Anyhow, I'd bet they would have an editor for the consoles and a more technical one available for the PC.

Don't get your hopes too high about this. We've been suggesting a PC tool that can export files to a game on console for years. Hell, I remember when I made a thread about it when Reach was announced, and suggested the exact same thing. Even posted an exact copy of my thread on the 343 site for Halo 4.

No-one delivered.

I wonder if this means that we would be in control of the politics of the factions or the planets of this factions, like you could be a Juror or a Guard of the territory of each faction preventing not allowing people that has a bad reputation like team killer or betrayal.

I thought this at first too, but then I remembered that they signed with Activision, and Activision is NOT a fan of letting people make their own content (at least on the consoles anyway).

What if the game was about space exploration and it would let players create their own worlds and switch between creation/space navigation/world navigation/battle modes? Featuring treats borrowed from Strategy, MMO, FPS and RPG genres.

You imply a level of control over Halo: Reach matchmaking that we no longer have. Or, in your vernacular, it isn't our shiznit anymore.

I agree. Who knows, maybe we are going to be able to use "forge" mode in the middle of the game to spawn whatever we want (Think Mercenaries 1 and 2).
