Moderator threads in the Community Forum, till death do us part.
How else would the community know that i'm mod material without these threads?

Thats highly presumptuous to say that people would use alts, and even if they did, that is why I'm in favor of Daz's idea of nominations done anonymously, with a limit on the nominations made per person. That way it doesn't matter if someone uses alts because once someone's nominated, they're nominated.

Even still, my post was mainly about DeeJ's apparent and irrational fear of letting us vote for stuff recently. So someone did something stupid once and he community reacted in kind. Big deal; move on.

How is it presumptuous? It's happened, it was out in the open. When something as serious as choosing a new moderator for the site pops up, it would be naive and silly to think that people aren't going to try and throw it, or otherwise make a ruckus out of it. DeeJ would have every right to not trust the community with something like that. His 'fear' isn't irrational at all, it's well-placed.
Do you not get how this system would work? The community would nominate people for the ninjas to pick from. Once nominated, you're nominated. There's no ifs, ands, or buts about it. The only thing that would come from being nominated more than once would be that the Ninjas would have a better idea of who the community wants if it comes down to some sort of tie for a spot.

Alts are not brought in to play in any way whatsoever that would greatly affect any sort of decision, and his general fear of community polls and voting is still stupid and irrational.

Yes, let's openly flame DeeJ

You said it. The next mail sack should be a roasting session on DeeJ. With love, the community.

It happened one time after countless mail sacks because one person decided to take things too seriously and be an idiot about it all. One time doesn't constitute an apprehension of allowing the community to vote on stuff.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen

I don't think one person took it too seriously and acted like an idiot, I would say it was a ton of people who were flipping out over it. That is why this can't work.

Cheating is not the issue, the accusations are. I can't stress this enough.

I think we can make a list of candidates but HFCS/the webteam should ultimately decide.

The issue is not cheating, the issue is the community.

People claim others have cheated just because they didn't want them to win. The only reason we couldn't do this is because if a certain person won something they didn't want them to win, they flip out like we have seen in the past.

Actually it was a number of people who wanted the other guy to "win". Mineself was included. God only knows what your "fan-club" got up to during that time

EDIT : I take it you were the one "flipping out"

Exactly, there are always people who want their friends or people they like to win and they vote for them. At the same time, people of the opposing faction call them out for it when they are doing the same thing.

The problem is that a civil war kind of erupts when someone lights the powder keg like people posting shopped pics of private groups or spreading rumors of cheating.

We can't handle anything serious yet.
Are you admitting that you asked your group to vote for you because of the person who made it, and not because of the merit?

Wait, you think that was the first time we had a poll for a Mail Sack challenge? You are far out of the loop. And 18 challenges going off virtually without a hitch with one bad apple of an experience shows that, at the very least, the community is 95% trustable if the results of those challenges were any indication of the community's ability to handle a poll or decision like that or this.

Finally, and in relation to my last point, no, that does not constitute that sort of a ban being put on polls. If a pitcher pitches 18 winning games but in one game gives up 8 Earned Runs and gets a loss, does that mean you now bench that pitcher because of his 18-1 record, losing one time really badly? No, that pitcher had a record of being good so you give him another/more chance(s).

Yes, I asked people to vote for my submission if they wanted to and I made several threads in FT and SV. The thing is though, I have no control of what people do, they could of voted for anyone they wanted, some voted for others.

Now lets look at an election or really any voting thing for that matter, doesn't everyone do the same thing? Even Bungie did it when they asked for votes for their charity auction "Men with Kilts"

You have to understand how voting works dude because asking for votes is in no way wrong. If that is why people were mad, then they don't understand how polls and things of similar nature function.

But why should people get mad? I mean I know people support people, why is it wrong if it is someone else doing it? What is up with all the hypocracy?

I'll tell you, the only reason people were mad, was because someone was winning they didn't want to win. That is why this doesn't work.

Feel free to link all the others.

And 18 challenges going off virtually without a hitch with one bad apple of an experience shows that, at the very least, the community is 95% trustable if the results of those challenges were any indication of the community's ability to handle a poll or decision like that or this. First off, a large number of the challenges weren't vote based. Second, they weren't polls. Thirdly, even if all 19 were polls, that's not how statistics work.

No, that pitcher had a record of being good so you give him another/more chance(s).That is quite possibly the worst analogy I have ever read.

And yes, it does constitute not using polls in 'important' subjects.

That is quite possibly the worst analogy I have ever read. Why is that? The point was that just because something or someone or some group messes up one time after having demonstrated their ability to do that activity in a non messed up way more than one time in the past doesn't mean that they should be restricted now from doing that one thing.

Quit trying to make yourself look innocent. You just admitted that you asked your group to vote for you. I'm sure that a lot of people didn't care about the poll. But they would be willing to help a friend, similarly to that Kitchen thread in the Flood a while back. You just admitted that you encouraged the corruption of a poll.

Ken, when you made threads in FT and SV asking for votes you had already tapped out all the possible votes you could get from all of the regular members who even actually visit the groups. You also knows that members in FT were continually voting on alternate accounts, yet you still asked for votes. You knew you were getting illegitimate votes, and were cheating, so don't even try to play coy about it. You got what you deserved in half of that t-shirt.

Lulz at you thinking that's a 'victory.' You just proved my point. Whenever someone else wants the results to go one way bad enough, it is corrupted. Your 'countless times' and '19 polls' you pulled out of your butt are voided. So thanks for that.

Clearly it's not, what I meant to say is that we're trustworthy 75% of the time. Excuse my numbers and grammar.
... So let's repeat the quote you just passed up.

First off, a large number of the challenges weren't vote based. Second, they weren't polls. Thirdly, even if all 19 were polls, that's not how statistics work.

Why is that? The point was that just because something or someone or some group messes up one time after having demonstrated their ability to do that activity in a non messed up way more than one time in the past doesn't mean that they should be restricted now from doing that one thing.Your analogy would only be accurate if you were talking about the pitcher deliberately sabotaging the performance (throwing the game). In which case he would indeed never be used again. The one you used is more fit to if the winner of a poll was someone you personally disagreed with.

Have you actually read my posts in this thread? I'm not talking about using a poll.... But Deej was. And then you called him an idiot for it. Which makes you either look unintelligent, unobservant, or a jerk.

Bro, asking people to vote for you does not break any rules of any form of voting. In any voting, be it the presidency or on Facebook, people ALWAYS ask others to vote for them.

Asking for votes does not corrupt any polls, you are not controlling any votes. No one forced anyone to vote on anything.

And also to be fair, lets not ignore the fact there were threads in the Mythic group and on coup de Bungie to vote for Ben. I saw them and pics of the threads.

You honestly can't sit here and complain about someone asking others to vote for their submission when groups on Bungie.net (such as the Mythic Group and coup de Bungie) were helping Ben.

I am sick of this hypocracy, but you know why no one complains about this or Ben cheating, because they wanted Ben to win no matter what and were willing to make someone else look bad to make sure he win.

Dude, no one was cheating, you are just making excuses.

This is why I am mad, the hypocracy on this forum. This is also why the ninja election would not work. People would vote then the losing "team" is going to fabricate a false story on how the winner is a cheater causing the webteam to end the contest even though no one was cheating.

I mean, this is like immature politics except in the real world, you can get in a lot of trouble for making false and unsupported claims against another person.

The only time i've been on a poll for a mailsack challenge, i didn't ask people to vote for me specifically.

As well, Why are you looking at images from Mythic Members? You're not in the group.

I just see it as a poor sportsmanship type deal. Don't ask people to vote for you. Tell people to check out the thread and vote for who they feel deserves the win.
