Meepzoid

Halo CE (Xbox): 9.5/10
Halo 2 (Xbox): 9/10
Halo 3: 10/10
Halo 3 ODST: 8/10 (Was not worth the $60 at the time)
Halo Reach: 8/10
Halo CE:A: 9/10 Should have had more multiplayer maps, being forced to play reach is ludicrous !
Halo Wars: 7/10

What didn't you like about it?

Everything.

Cliche characters.
Boring score.
Redundant storyline.

(Since when did Halo 3 take place 1 day after Halo 2?)

“Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.”
― Albert Einstein

Halo CE: 4/5
Halo 2: 5/5
Halo 3: 4.5/5
Halo Wars: 3/5
It was a good game, I just hated the base building, the Graphics were to cartoony, and the Gameplay Mechanics were a shame.

Halo 3 ODST: 3.5/5
To short, and not worth 60 Bucks.

Halo Reach: 4/5
The Canon change was the reason why it got a 4/5.

Halo CEA: 5/5

Campaign:
Halo 1 > Halo 3 > Halo Reach > (Halo 3 ODST) > Halo 2

Multiplayer:
Halo 2 > Halo 3 > Halo 1 > Halo Reach

I pretty much have enjoyed every single Halo game in both Campaign and Multiplayer. The only game that I think is a bit out of place is the Halo 2 Campaign with its questionable linear gameplay, impossibly unbalanced Legendary mode and its flow-destroying boss battles.

Halo 3 is way more linear than 2, there is little room for exploration in the recent Halo's, Halo CE and 2 had it best.

Have you never gone on the many Halo 2 Vacations?

As for the boss battles, all of them take place at the end, and aside from Tartarus' silly hammer fight, they were quite intriguing IMO.

And Halo 3 was worse than Halo 2 in Campaign IMO.

I agree with you here, but beyond Cortana and Jacob Keyes who isn't a cliche character in the Halo games?

Boring score.

I assume that this is some kind of joke?

Redundant storyline.

Not really. Because of Virgil and the ODST squad, they discovered the Excession which feeds directly into Halo 3. Also, whether it's redundant or not does not impede the fact that it's Bungie's most sophisticated story-driven game.

(Since when did Halo 3 take place 1 day after Halo 2?)

It... doesn't. After the credits it pretty clearly says "ONE MONTH LATER".

He is wrong IMO, but I still found the game to be generally, well boring. I had no problem with exploration, it is just that the environments weren't really that interesting, it didn't hook me.

The score was good, but I still think that Halo 2 is miles ahead of other games in that department.

This. There are a lot of impediments in the newer Halo games:

-invisible barriers
-soft kill boundaries
-lack of or too much detail

Compare CEA's 343 Guilty Spark to CE 343 Guilty Spark, which had the entire top rendered.

Compare CEA's Silent Cartographer to CE Silent Cartographer, the entire top having virtually no extra noise or clutter.

Compare any H3/Reach missions to CE/H2 missions. Enough said. Sierra 117 is probably the only H3 level that rendered the outside area (Crow's Nest cutscene).

Graphics prioritization is why Bungie couldn't render the outside areas in the aforementioned games. CE and H2 had massive maps but their outside could be rendered. If Bungie really had cared about exploration, then they would have learned from H3. And they didn't because they are antagonistic to glitches. So they provided game breaking easter eggs (4 Banshees, piloting Pelican or Phantom) to discourage exploration by glitching.

As for 343, they also seemed to be focusing on graphics, at least with Anniversary. Though CEA's performance was an improvement from CE and H4 seems to be keeping in mind performance by finally implementing body disposal (Keel bug and Flood Transport Form were deleted, from CE and H3 respectively).

There once was an ugly barnacle. He was so ugly that everyone died.

The end.

SCFH

Halo 2 was my best campain because, well, in addition to the fact the stroyline was great and the whole arbiter thing was cool, but the lack of invisible barriers just made exploration sooooo fun. I could spend hours at a time just getting outside the map and doing shananigans. Halo 3 and Halo Reach never had that.

Halo CE
Halo 3
ODST
Reach
Halo 2

I see a lot of people rating H2 as their favorite and this makes me wonder if this is just b/c this is the first Halo they played.

For me H2 was a tremendous dissapoint with the diminshed field of vision and the sort of jerkiness I felt in the gameplay. Add in the storyline and my apathy for the characters along with that atrocious -blam!- they pulled at the end and it's the only game that I still look back on and feel disappointed about and a little angry.

There were a lot of expectations, for me, for that game, and to this day it is the reason I don't get too excited about upcoming games or movies.

TL;DR Was traumatized by H2 hype machine and now abhor the game even though I played my fair share of multiplayer and ground out Legendary.

My top game has to be Halo 3, purely for the custom games.
The multiplayer was great and so was the campaign, but the level of social interaction and fun brought by the custom games was something that, to this date, hasn't been recreated by ANY game, even Reach.

The next one is Anniversary, it allows us to revisit an extraordinary campaign with great new visuals.
A campaign that kicked off what is arguably the most famous shooter.

Third up is CE, it's Anniversary minus the updated graphics, but that takes nothing away from it and I almost put it over anniversary for it's nostalgia value.

Fourth place is Reach.
The campaign was still a delight to play, although it presented some canonical clashes with previous established events.
Multiplayer honestly was on and off for me, but still had merit.
Forge, although it never really took off was still great and firefight only improved since it's debut in ODST.

Speaking of ODST, it comes in fifth.
The campaign was very fun and it brought a fun new way and perspective to play Halo.
Firefight was also great fun and had replay value.

Last place is Halo 2.
I loved it, but it had, for me, the weakest campaign. And I never really got into the multiplayer side of things, though I would have liked to, I heard it was great.

Rain, and Jazz.
Halo: Tactical

I'm either a fool or an inteligent man, depending on how sleepy or angry I am.

I originaly made an account on 07.27.2007 but I wanted to link my GT and made this account. Don't forget your passwords!

Singleplayer:

Halo 2 > Halo CE > Halo 3: ODST > Halo: Reach > Halo 3 > Halo Wars

Multiplayer:

Halo 3 > Halo 2 > Halo: CE > Halo: Reach > Halo 3: ODST > Halo Wars

  • 07.24.2012 3:16 PM PDT

Campaign: CE=2=3, ODST, Reach, Wars. Is there a pattern here?

Multiplayer: 2, 3, Reach, ODST, CE, Wars

Honestly, each of the campaigns has its strengths. They all had great environments, the story was great for the most part. Multiplayer is where there is the distinction. H2, I was hooked on Team SWAT and Custom Zombies. H3 I was hooked on Custom in General. Reach had an overwhelming Forge mode but it was great to see what others did. ODST, the best collectible items ever. Seeing the city come alive was awe inspiring.

  • 07.25.2012 5:41 PM PDT

Story:
1. Halo 3 - Finished off an amazing trilogy with a bang.
2. Halo 2 - Really fleshed out the Halo story and expanded the lore.
3. Halo Reach - Gave a nice setup for Halo 1, however, Noble Team's members weren't very developed due to the fact that they appeared only in a single Halo title. Their deaths felt insignificant.
4. ODST - Awesome game, but, I felt no connections to the characters whatsoever.
5. Halo CE - While the game itself was great, there was very little plot to the game itself.

Campaign:
1. Halo Reach - Great level design, refreshing aesthetics, prominent theme, and the levels didn't feel too repetitive. Reach really showed the progression of level design throughout the Halo series. The campaign felt to me like the ultimate Halo experience.
2. Halo 3: ODST - A new take on the Halo experience, an AMAZING soundtrack, and the inclusion of sandbox elements made it stand out to me.The only problem for me was that the New Mombasa overworld started to feel repetitive
3. Halo 3 - The story shined in Halo 3 but some of the levels didn't so much. Take for example "Cortana", the level progressed the story greatly but I couldn't find an ounce of fun in the level. That aside, Halo 3 is a masterpiece. The soundtrack is the best of the original trilogy, and the scarab fights were damn fun.
4. Halo 2 - While this game was groundbreaking in the storytelling and multiplayer, the campaign was unfinished. With many texture problems and the missing third act, the game felt "rushed". Though, Halo 2 was epic to say the least. Its cinematics were astounding and the gameplay evolved greatly from Halo CE.
5. Halo CE - While the game was great for its time with a ground breaking setting and soundtrack, it has started to show its age. The levels feel very repetitive at times and the second half of the game was a recycled version of the first. However, the game was a true testament of its time.

Multiplayer:

Halo 3 > Reach > Halo 2 > Combat Evolved

My overall favorite list:

1. Halo Reach - Best Campaign (gameplay-wise) and addictive multiplayer (Credits, credits, credits).
2. Halo 3: ODST - Coolest setting, an amazing musical score, and firefight is brilliant.
3. Halo CE - Nostalgia is what's keeping this game alive.
4. Halo 3 - Best multiplayer IMO and an awesome story, but, I never was as connected to Halo 3 as compared to others
5. Halo 2 - While it revolutionized multiplayer gaming and developed Halo's story, I never enjoyed it as much as other Halo games.

Delusions and Grandeur.

Campaign ratings:

CE: 9 for overall fun, 10 for story.
Halo 2: 9.5 for overall fun, 9.5 for story.
Halo 3: 9.5 for overall fun, 9.5 for story.
ODST: 9 for overall fun, 9 for story.
Reach: 6.5 for overall fun, 7 for story.
CEA: 9.5 (added terminals, skulls, etc.) for overall fun, 10 for story.

Multiplayer and replayability go to Halo 3, graphics goes to CEA, Forge goes to Reach, and Firefight goes to ODST.

Halo 2: 100/100

ShawtyHullstineFilms CEO-Team MLG EXTREME

CE: 9/10
All I can say about this game is that it was an adventure. I was as entertained by the environment as I was with the gameplay. I could just explore for hours.

Halo 2: 9/10
Though the environment was a bit weaker that CE, the story really flared here and the gameplay was fantastic. Along with the great campaign came a great multiplayer.

Halo 3: 10/10
Best Halo to date. Brought the community together and is the pinnacle of video games to date. Finishing the fight was awesome and I will never forget the hilarious times I had in matchmaking with friends. Also met a lot of people through Halo 3.

ODST: 6/10
Didn't seem to get as immersed in the story as others. I thought it was rather cheesy and boring. I know it was an expansion, but everything played same as Halo 3 except dumbed down for the ODST's. The moods of the characters didn't really fit the darker environment the Bungie was trying to depict. Also, putting "new multiplayer" on the cover of the game really ticked me off too. It most certainly was not "new multiplayer."

Reach 8/10
I don't like the hallow shells the Spartan III's are and I think that starting a trend of new generations of Spartans was a bad, bad idea. Like I said in a post yesterday, by Halo 6 we will have the twentieth generation of Spartans which are monkeys trained by the UNSC since birth.) I would have liked the story to follow the events of The Fall of Reach and First Strike, but playing as a weaker Spartan III was a bit of a let-down. I also missed the colorful and uplifting color pallet that Bungie made. I know that the destruction of Reach isn't a happy thing, but I thought it was a step down from 3. I have fun in the multiplayer and don't really have any complaints there besides that objective games are destroyed.

Halo Wars: 6/10
Cool cutscenes, but I have a hard time considering it a true Halo game. Just wasn't feeling the story or characters. Multiplayer is a good bit of fun though.

CEA: 7/10
Don't like any of the multiplayer maps aside from Ridgeline and LIVE co-op campaign is butchered by lag (which I'm still angry that they haven't patched that yet.) I liked the story the terminals told and I really liked the graphical overhaul. I understand that they couldn't add new multiplayer because it would've split the Halo community. It was a good call on 343i's end and really showed me that they do care about the Halo community.

Overall, not too much disappointment with the Halo series and I am SUPER EXCITED for Halo 4. Everything looks very promising so far, especially the story!
