Subject: You are not competitive, you are casual

Unless you are getting paid for playing video games at a professional level or are currently trying to get paid and make it professionally, then you are not a competitive player.

Competitive =/= professional

In that case, everyone is a competitive player, because everyone plays to win. Just because you have a slight bit of teamwork or callouts, you are still not a competitive player.

A professional is someone who makes money from a profession.
A competitive is somebody who strives for winning.

Many people have posted on the forums that they enjoy the crazy fun times rather than trying to win. Those people are casual.

I think it's a trollish thought.

Ohai, I'm Loscocco (pronounced Loss-cocoa). I'm a college student (computer science major), 3D animator, and long-time Halo player.

That's like saying the term, "volunteer work" is a contradiction...

because everyone plays to win.

Competitive means "having or displaying a strong desire to be more successful than others". It has nothing to do with how good or successful you are, or even if you play to win.

Also, I do not play to win, I play to have fun.

Name's John. I'm a 21-year-old firefighter/EMT from lolhio who doubles as a die-hard Halo fan. I've been enjoying the franchise since 2001. My favorite iteration of Halo would have to be Halo 2 simply because I never got to experience the joy of a full-on Halo: CE LAN.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Oh yeah, and boot Zome.

Haha, no.

If you are striving to win, then why do you not strive to win at the next level, and actually try to gain money from it?

Actually, yes. Even the worst player in the game wants to win. He may not care as much if he loses, but his primary goal is to win the current match.

When you first started playing Halo, I can imagine you weren't the best player around, right? When you played your first match, did you want to win that match? I'm sure winning is not your main purpose at that time, but you did want to win, right?

I'm sure your sole purpose for playing video games it have fun, right? Would you say you play the game to have fun, or you play the game competitively? I'm sure you would say to have fun.

When you look at Strictly Competitive players, their main ambition is to win. Halo Reach wasn't a fun game for them, but they had to stick with it to maintain that paycheck. They have to prepare by practicing 30+ hours a week, and sometimes they get worn out from it.

There's a difference there

Why Bungie, why would you do this?! - Halo Community

Casual means you would might mess around to prevent yourself from winning, and you really don't care if the game is balanced and fair.

Competitive means you play to win no matter what, and you want the game to be balanced and fair.

Professionals get payed munies for winning.

Dude there is a massive difference. Casuals can play on a couch about 3 meters away from the tv while competitive players play about 25cm away from a monitor. Also you'll find competitive players have head sets and stuff

Yes, that's what I said. Or are you confusing "desire to be successful" with actual success?
