So im having problems setting up a custom game using the system link game setting...we have everything listed here..1. Two TV's 2. Two Xbox 360's (both connected by using the ethernet cable) 3. Two copies of Halo Reach. Now we get as far as setting up the custom game and everything and on screen we can see the players connected to our 360 in the lobby and the other players connected to the second 360 in a separate lobby but we cant seem to join each other in a System Linked Game. We also tried selecting one of the other lobby players where it provide the options once selected ( party info and Join) but the join option is not highlighted so we cant play each other....i need some serious help with this. I read somewhere that it should provide the options where one party would select the HOST GAME option and the other party would be able to join but we don't get that option...any info that could help would be very appreciated .

I do want to point out that I have one Older and one Newer 360. And that on the newer system I have Reach downloaded on the HD while on the older 360 I have a copy of the game on disk.

Yea, both systems are set to system link. It shows on screen that My xbox and the other xbox on in its own seperate parties. It says to hit Y to system link on the other party which brings up the system link option, but it doesn't do anything. Its not combining the parties together from both xboxes. You'll see 1/16 on one and 1/16 on the other instead of 2/16 like it should be.

I had this same exact problem a week or so ago, and never got it fixed. Both xboxs were up to date but I couldn't make one join the others lobby. I blame M$.

The ethernet cable needs to be a crossover, so this could be the issue you have.

or use two non-crossover cables and a router/switch if you have the option

Ah, thats true. Its been a long time since I did a LAN party. Thanks. I know I have a hub somewhere, I'll have to hook that up and see if that fixes the problem.

Allso there are many who have linked with the stuff posted above yet they fail to start games in Reach but it still worked on other games they linked. So there might be a random issue with Reach and system link.
