Subject: I have a question about the forerunners

...And when i am standing there, watching as the slingshot is cranked back into the shadows, a smile will bestow upon my face as I softly whisper one word..."blam...."

Check out my Youtube Channel!

So according to Halo: Legends in the "Origins" story, it talks about how the forerunners gathered several species of intelligent life so they could repopulate the universe after they fire the halos.

My question is why didn't they preserve their own species? or did they? i'm reading the Greg Bear novels right, so if my question is answered in Cryptum or Primordium please tell me to keep reading because i don't want the books to be spoiled hahaha.

thanks guys! :)

We are all going to get banned aren't we?

The Forerunners survived but we don't know how exactly yet.

One cone to splatter em all!!

Correct me if i'm wrong. Didn't they take refuge on the so called shield worlds. On said to be made almost completely of sentinel.

I've read about on and A half of the halo novels. the half one only because Greg Bear is not able to captivate me as much as I hoped.

By the way are the earlier novels worth it? Sorry if I stray A bit off topic with my last question.

I think it was said that the Forerunners couldn't make it to the shield worlds in time.

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

Forerunners apparently left the galaxy after the firing of the array, surviving the effect by taking shelter in Shield Worlds.

Although so far, neither of the novels really explains this. Silentium will most likely explain what happened. Can't wait.

Grunt Beats Everthing

Ark is 218 (262,144) light years away from the center of the Milky Way. As the Milky Way is around 100,000-120,000 light years in diameter, the installation is beyond the reaches of galactic space, thereby keeping anyone who is on it safe from the firing of the Halos.

Many Forerunners were on Ark during that time, that's why they survived.

There are no sources saying they were at the Ark or went to a shield world.

But if I'm not mistaken, nothing states that they weren't. It makes sense that if you build a bomb shelter, and know when the bomb will go off, you'll hide in it if you're still alive.

So because it isn't stated either way the way you are suggesting is true?

All we know is they left the galaxy after re-seeding. They were probably at the Greater ark but since we don't have any sources we shouldn't go around saying one way or the other. It is already interesting enough seeing has the halo array was activated at random and MB was heading to the orion complex.

If I can recall correctly, the reason they didn't go into Shield Worlds is because with the defection of Mendicant Bias he leaked the location of said structures to the Flood.

I'm not suggesting that it's true, but I am suggesting that it's possible. Some might not have been able to make it to the Greater Ark.

Didact, along with many others Forerunners were on Ark, because they activated Halos from Citadel.

Wrong, didact was the one who fired the halo ring

  • 08.18.2012 5:26 PM PDT

Sup brah.

I seriously doubt there would have been no forerunners on the ark or in shield worlds when the halos were activated.

  • 08.18.2012 5:34 PM PDT

I thought the sheild worlds were made to protect forerunners from the Halo rings.

The Forerunners were a pretty intelligent species so, though I am not an expert on forerunners, I assume that they are still alive, but we don't know how they survived. PLEASE correct me if i'm wrong. I want to learn all about the forerunners (as you can tell by my name).

Maybe we'll find out in Halo: Silentium which comes out in January of 2013. I can't wait!

Some Forerunners might be in stasis/cryptums on Requiem others may have left the galaxy. We won't find out until Halo-4 or when the next Forerunner novel comes out.

  • 08.20.2012 12:59 PM PDT

speaking of the next forerunner novel here is the official description from amazon which reveals both didacts are alive and the flood has some unexpected allies http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0765323982/ref=as_li_ss_tl?i e=UTF8&tag=heaprcom05-20&linkCode=as2&camp=217145 &creativeASIN=0765323982

I had always assumed the surviving Forerunner left the galaxy in a shameful self exile.

I'm not sure if the Bear canon has butchered this.

You don't know canon if you think Greg Bear of all people is ruining it.

In Halo 4 the Prometheans are the enemy, Not the forerunners themselves, the Prometheans are AI machines created by the Forerunners so they must have survived the halo rings I think
